The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has confirmed frightening statistics concerning Ghana’s road fatalities in 2025.
According to the NRSA, out of the 2,949 road traffic fatalities recorded in Ghana in 2025, a total of 1,345 were caused by motorcycle (Okada) crashes.
The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) is quoted by TV3 to have said, “Okada crashes account for 1,345 of Ghana’s 2,949 road fatalities in 2025”.
Earlier, the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) announced that Road traffic crashes in Ghana claimed 2,949 lives in 2025.
According to the NRSA, the 2025 road crashes death is worrying rise compared to the previous year.
The NRSA detailed that between January and December 2025, the country recorded 14,743 crashes, up from 13,489 cases in 2024, representing a 9.3 per cent increase.
They highlighted that the growth in crashes was matched by a rise in vehicle involvement, with 24,938 vehicles implicated during the year, compared to 22,975 vehicles in 2024, an 8.5 per cent jump.
According to them, the most troubling trend, however, was the spike in fatalities, adding that Deaths from road crashes climbed from 2,494 in 2024 to 2,949 in 2025, meaning 455 additional lives were lost within a year.
Some Ghanaians reacting to the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) statistics stated, “Every day road accidents, statistics tell us what your organisation will do to stop this. Innocent people are involved. Especially Accra to Kumasi Road”.
A netizen added, “So what should we do about this bruh? You are the government creat proper jobs for the youth, cos we got no choice to hustle……We got to feed ourselves and families as well. Do something now”.
Another X user with a long comment added, “We live in a country 🇬🇭 where our population has increased, and the vehicles our nation needs must be big and strong, not small Okados that try to move too fast, forgetting how many of us are on the roads.
No one truly knows what lies ahead, even for a single second. I pray that Jesus Christ blesses our leaders with discernment and understanding, so they may lead His people, whom He truly loves and cares for”.
His comment further added, “If everyone tries to buy their own vehicles without thought, accidents will increase, and many lives will be lost. This is exactly what our fallen ancestors wanted – to increase their power while bringing harm to the living. Humans need wisdom to see and prepare for the unseen, to reduce the death toll.
The same land we live on will be used to bury the dead, and over time, cemeteries will expand, taking land meant for the living and creating famines that will kill many in future generations”.
“The actions we take today will bring harm to our children and grandchildren, and they may one day speak evil of this generation when it is too late for them to change what we have allowed.
Jesus Christ’s teachings will save us by faith – believing in the unseen to preserve lives and to be prepared – for our actions bring the worst ahead of time 🕰️ – there’s time for everything we do and a day the thief gets caught…”.
