A 3-year-old boy has died following a bee attack, and 10 others sustained injuries.

According to reports, the incident occurred at Wawase, a suburb of Agona Swedru, casting a pall of grief over the community.

Christopher Amponsah has been identified as the victim, with a swarm of bees descending on residents around 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026.

Reports from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), 10 people were affected by the swarm.

Report by classfmonline stated, “While 9 victims sustained varying degrees of injuries from multiple stings, they are currently receiving treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and NADMO were deployed in a coordinated emergency response to contain the situation. Authorities confirmed by Saturday morning that the swarm had been neutralised and the area secured.

The incident marks the second fatal bee attack recorded in the Central Region within a week. Earlier, a female student at a private senior high school in Winneba also lost her life under similar circumstances.

The Municipal Director of NADMO, Charles K. Agbavitor, led a delegation to the affected community on Saturday to assess possible environmental triggers and extend condolences to the bereaved family.

Authorities have since issued a public safety advisory, urging residents to avoid disturbing beehives and to promptly report unusual bee activity to emergency services.

Experts attribute such incidents to environmental factors, including changing weather conditions and habitat disruption, which can force bee colonies to migrate into residential areas in search of new nesting sites”.

In related news, A final-year student at the A.M.E Zion Senior High School in the Central Region has passed away after she was attacked by bees on the school premises.

The deceased has been identified as a 21-year-old Emmanuella Quainoo.

Reports suggest that at around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, she was reportedly swarmed by bees while on campus.

Emmanuella Quainoo was rushed to the nearby hospital but could not survive.

According to reports, the deceased enrolled at the private school for remedial classes to improve her science scores.

Speaking to Citi News on Thursday, March 19, her grandmother, Vida Ayi Mensah, stated, “We heard she had been attacked by bees at school, so we rushed there and took her to the hospital. She passed away the next day.

“We saw the doctors attending to her. She asked us to buy medications, which we had already done, and they also said she’d need a blood transfusion. While at the pharmacy, I was called that she had died, so I didn’t proceed with the drugs.”
