6 Aggrey Memorial SHS students busted over violent attack on ADISCO student

The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of six students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School for allegedly assaulting a final-year student of Adisadel College.

The Police in a statement detailed that the incident occurred on Friday, 20 February 2026, at about 3:30 p.m during the final day of an inter-colleges sports in Cape Coast.

According to the police press release, the victim, identified as Rexford Owusu-Ansah, was attacked at Pedu Junction on his way back to campus with two friends.

The victim’s two friends managed to escape, but Rexford Owusu-Ansah was overpowered, kicked to the ground and beaten.

The students of Aggrey Memorial SHS are alleged to have his iPhone 17 Pro Max, GH¢1,400 in cash and his shoes.

In a press release issued by the Central Regional Command’s Public Affairs Unit on Tuesday, 24 February 2026 detailed, “On 20/02/2026 at 7:30 pm, the School Authorities of the Aggrey Memorial Senior High School, Cape Coast brought to the Kotokuraba Police Station six juvenile offenders who are all students of the above named School and reported that, on 20/02/2026 about 3:30 pm same day, the juvenile offenders attacked and assaulted Rexford Owusu-Ansah, a final year student of Adisadel College at Pedu Junetion.

On receipt of the complaint, the juvenile suspects were arrested and detained to assist with the investigation.

Initial Police enquiry revealed that, on the final day of the inter-colleges sports festival at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday, February 20, 2026, the victim was coming out from the stadium to return to campus with two of his friends, and the Aggrey Memorial Students asked them if they attended Adisadel College and attacked them right after. His two other friends managed to escape, but unfortunately, he was caught, and was kicked onto the floor and beaten mercilessly, and they took his iPhone 17 Pro Max and his pocket money of about GHé 1,400 Cedis and his shoes”.

The Police statement added, “He was rushed to the stadium clinic and was later referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital. He was discharged on Sunday, February 22nd 2026.

His two friends who escaped the assault confirmed they can identify the Aggrey Memorial students who attacked him.

The police medical form that was endorsed by a medical doctor showed a fractured nerve bone in his right eye, and he cannot open it up, and the eyeball seems to be falling out.

The Central Regional Police Command strongly condemns the violence and assures the public that due process will be followed as the juvenile offenders will face the full rigours of the law”.

In related news, the Ghana Police Service has announced that the three students of the Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) arrested for the assault on a student of Obrachire Senior High Technical School will be put before the court.

The three suspect has been identified as Joseph Amoh, 20; Benedict Appiah, 18; and Bilal Mamud, 18.

In a statement released on Tuesday, February 24, the Police wrote, “THREE STUDENTS ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH ASSAULT ON OBRACHIRE SHS STUDENT CAPTURED IN THE VIRAL VIDEO.

Following an engagement between the Director-General/CID, COP/Ms. Lydia Yaako Donkor, and the management of Swedru School of Business on 23/02/2026, about 9:00 pm of the same day, the authorities of Swedru School of Business brought to the Swedru Divisional Police Command three suspects, all students in the aforementioned school;

1. Joseph Amoh, 20 yrs

2. Benedict Appiah, 18 yrs

3. Bilal Mamud, 18 yrs.

The suspects were arrested and will be put before court.

The Central Regional Command wishes to once again condemn the conduct of the students involved and urge the public, especially students, against engaging in acts of violence”.
