60-year-old ammunition and drug dealer, Abass Seidu

Abass Seidu, a 60-year-old ammunition and drug dealer, has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).

Reports suggest that Abass Seidu was arrested by the Upper West Regional Command of the Narcotics Control Commission at Kundugu in the Wa East District.

A Facebook post by NACOC on Thursday, February 19, detailed that the suspect was arrested following a series of surveillance operations on January 29, 2026.

NACOC further disclosed that their operatives recovered three cartons of ammunition and tramadol concealed within assorted pharmaceutical drugs.

Following a search of Seidu’s stash house at the Wa-Kejetia lorry station, seven additional cartons and 362 individual pieces of ammunition, assorted foreign cigarettes and 2,626 cartridges of ammunition were seized.

The ammunition and drug dealer is said to be supplying both local clients and individuals from neighbouring Burkina Faso.

He has since been handed over to the Wa Municipal Police for further investigations and prosecution in court.

Also, the Upper West Regional Command has cautioned the public against engaging in activities that could lead to criminal liability. They further urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

In related news, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has intensified the Canine (K9) Unit at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

According to reports, NACOC, in collaboration with its Enforcement Unit stationed at Kotoka, has intensified behavioural detection operations.

NACOC moved is aimed at enforcing Ghana’s commitment to combating narcotics trafficking through its primary international gateway.

The K9 Operations at Kotoka International Airport will focus on identifying inbound and outbound passengers who display behavioural indicators commonly associated with drug trafficking.

NACOC Officers will deploy trained sniffer dogs, advanced scanning equipment, and profiling techniques to support the exercise to closely monitor passenger movements while ensuring minimal disruption to airport activities.

Reports suggest that although the exercise focused on selected airlines, individuals identified as persons of interest will also be subjected to further investigation regardless of the airline or flight.

Meanwhile, reports suggest the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has intercepted a major cocaine haul at Kotoka International Airport.

According to the reports, NACOC intercepted the major cocaine haul concealed in gari packaging.

The news was shared by a GHOne news flyer, which stated, “NACOC intercepts major cocaine haul concealed in gari packaging at Kotoka”.

The news comes on the heels of the Deputy Director General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Alexander Twum-Barimah, who has clarified media reports which suggested they have arrested a manager of a food manufacturing company in a cocaine bust.
