DataReportal has revealed that proprietary analysis conducted by Kepios on their behalf disclosed that  8.59 million active social media users in Ghana at the end of 2025.

The Kepios’ analysis shows that social media user identities in Ghana increased by 780 thousand between late 2024 and the end of 2025.

Parts of the report stated, “data published in the ad planning tools of top social media platforms indicates that there were 8.40 million user identities aged 18 and above using social media in Ghana at the end of 2025, which was equivalent to 40.9 per cent of the total population aged 18 and above.

At that time, 44.6 per cent of Ghana’s social media user identities were female, while 55.4 per cent were male.

And for added context, it may be helpful to know that 32.7 per cent of Ghana’s total internet user base (regardless of age) used at least one social media platform in October 2025”.

The report further detailed that Google’s advertising resources indicate that YouTube had 8.59 million users in Ghana in late 2025.

  • YouTube’s ad reached an equivalent of 24.4 per cent of Ghana’s total population at the end of the year 2025.

“To put those figures in perspective, YouTube ads reached 32.7 per cent of Ghana’s total internet user base (regardless of age) in October 2025.

At that time, 47.0 per cent of YouTube’s adult ad audience in Ghana was female, while 53.0 per cent was male”, the report stated.

  • In terms of Facebook, “Data published in Meta’s advertising resources indicate that Facebook had 8.40 million users in Ghana in late 2025”.

Facebook’s ad reach in Ghana was equivalent to 23.8 per cent of the total population.

  • Ghana had only 2.30 million Instagram users in late 2025, with only 10.9 per cent of adults aged 18 and above in Ghana using Instagram at the end of 2025, and Instagram’s potential ad reach in Ghana increased by 250 thousand, that is 12.2 per cent.

The data also showed that Ghana had  3.40 million “members” using LinkedIn as of late 2025, with their potential ad reach in Ghana increased by 500 thousand, that is17.2 percent.

Additionally, “Data published in Meta’s advertising resources indicate that ads on Messenger reached 999 thousand users in Ghana in late 2025, with a potential ad reach in Ghana increased by 60.9 thousand, which is 6.5 per cent.

In regard to X, “Numbers published in X’s advertising resources indicate that X had 1.17 million users in Ghana in late 2025.

This figure means that X’s ad reach in Ghana was equivalent to 3.3 per cent of the total population at the time”.

Meanwhile, the report shared by Datareportal revealed that Ghana’s Internet connection speeds increased by 30%, which stood at 11.68 Mbps.

According to the report, Ghana’s median fixed internet download speed is 49.50 Mbps, with the download speed of the typical fixed internet connection in Ghana standing at 11.68 Mbps.  

The details shared by Datareportal stated, “Figures published by Ookla indicate that internet users in Ghana could have expected the following internet connection speeds at the end of 2025, reported in megabits per second (Mbps):

Median fixed internet download speed: 49.50 Mbps.

Ookla’s data shows that the download speed of the typical fixed internet connection in Ghana increased by 11.68 Mbps (+30.9 per cent) in the twelve months to August 2025”.

It must be noted that Mbps also refer to Megabits per second, which is the standard unit for measuring internet bandwidth.

It indicates how much data can move between the internet and your device per second.
