The Kade Circuit Court has remanded five 2025 WASSCE students in connection with the violent attack on Mr Michael Quayson, a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School in the Eastern Region.

Reports suggest the 2025 WASSCE students were arrested by the Cyber Security Unit of the Ghana Police Service and appeared in court today, January 7, 2026.

They were remanded into police custody pending a hearing on January 20, 2026.

In a viral video shared on X, five student were seen being transported out of the Kade Circuit Court after they were remanded into police custody.

Reports suggest the attack was allegedly carried out in retaliation for the teachers who prevented them from cheating during the 2025 WASSCE.

In a post on social media SIKAOFFICAL stated, “Five suspects have been remanded by the Kade Circuit Court in connection with the violent attack on Mr. Michael Quayson, a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School in the Eastern Region.

The suspects, arrested by the Cyber Security Unit of the Ghana Police Service, appeared in court today, January 7, 2026, and were remanded into police custody pending a hearing on January 20, 2026.

According to reports, the attack was allegedly carried out in retaliation for the teacher’s firm supervision during the 2025 WASSCE, which prevented examination malpractice”.

It will be recalled that last year October 2025, a viral video captured students reportedly attacking the teacher after he refused to allow them to cheat in exams.

Reports later surfaced that the parents of the students reached an out-of-court settlement with the teacher.

Also, President John Dramani Mahama has condemned a viral video which captured some students attacking a teacher.

Mahama condemned the recent attacks on teachers as he expressed concerns over the handling of students who attack their teachers.

Speaking at the Delegates Conference of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), President Mahama stated, “Indeed, I saw the video of the Maths teacher being beaten because he refused to allow our students to cheat, and they had a sense of entitlement.

“How is that? This is assault. It is criminal. But when we inquired, the police also said the teacher was compensated, so he didn’t want to press charges anymore”.

At least the children should have been booked, they should have been taken through the legal process, and at least if nothing at all, they should have been bonded to be of good behaviour for a period of time, and then we will believe that justice has been done. As for assault on teachers, I am with you 100%, we will deal with it,” he stated.

Meanwhile, some netizen has reacted to the news saying, “If Ghana police continue this way trust me they will gain their credibility i saw a video one helping someone to get fuel and a team at the north fighting drugs and almighty twitter police that any time we tag them they deliver that is how the law is supposed to work and trust me what is happening in Nigeria can’t happen here let them serve at least 6 months with hard labour and their parents pay for damages”.

One X user added, “You hardly see rich kids or children from middle-income families behaving this way in SHS…hmmm, they’ll learn that gangster life in SHS leads to a lifetime disgrace”.

“Naa the way one guy is crying calling his mum, he needs to go 16years sia boy those that doing guy guy ani den too them for go 20years siafo)”, a netizen added.
