Haruna Mohammed, the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP, has said that Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is not a founding member of the party.

The NPP Deputy General Secretary explained that NPP founding members are those who signed the document at the Electoral Commission, adding that Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe never signed any document.

Speaking in an interview with JoyNews on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Haruna Mohammed stated, “People who are founding members of our party are known. There were people who signed the document at the Electoral Commission. Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe never signed any document. So, please, I am the Deputy General Secretary of the party, I am telling you that he is not a founding member of the party”.

He further added that Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe was suspended from the NPP in 2016 and was again suspended in 2023.

“Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe was suspended as a member on March 3, 2016 and again on October 14, 2023, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe said, and I quote ‘I was a member of the NPP until Mahama came into the scene – Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe reveals’,” he added.

“Our party is a party of rules; you cannot tell us that you are no more a member of the party and come and arrogate yourself a founding member,” he concluded.

Also, in a separate interview, Haruna Mohammed has said anyone unhappy with NPP can voluntarily leave.

Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News, he stated, “If there is anybody who has to leave, let him leave. The NPP is a national party you joined voluntarily; nobody forced you. If you feel that something untoward is being done that doesn’t align with your expectations, you can appropriately make arrangements to leave”.

His comments come on the heels of  Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe backing Prof Frimpong-Boateng, challenging the NPP leadership over plans to expel him.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe boldly asserted that Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s comments reflect the party’s current state and warned that the party is drifting from its founding ideals.

According to Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, he fully agreed with the views expressed by Prof Frimpong-Boateng.

In a 3news.com report on January 13, 2026, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe is quoted as saying, I listened to Prof Frimpong-Boateng’s interview, and I must say without fear that I agree with him entirely. All the points that he raised are issues that are really worrying the party”.

“What I will say at this stage is that if they sack Frimpong-Boateng, then they should sack me. They should sack Kwame Pianim, they should sack Dr Arthur Kennedy and quite a number of us,” Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe stated.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe also labelled the current leadership of the NPP as looters.

According to Dr Nyaho Tamakloe, if the NPP dares expel Prof Frimpong Boateng, they should sack him too.

Dr Nyaho Tamakloe is quoted by TV3 to have said, “The party is now in the hands of looters, if they sack Prof Frimpong Boateng, then they should sack me as well”.
