Entertainment“Why spend a fortune on a wedding dress worn for a few hours?” – Counsellor quizzes

George Asah, a marriage counsellor, has quizzed couples on why they spend a fortune on a wedding dress worn for a few hours.

The Counsellor highlighted that wedding dresses are worn for just a few hours, and added that there is no need for one to spend a fortune on it when the couple have their whole life to build their marriage.

Counsellor George Asah is quoted by Starr FM as saying, “Why spend a fortune on a wedding dress worn for a few hours when you have a lifetime of marriage to build?”

Some Ghanaians reacting to his question stated, “Our ladies don’t understand at all, they don’t know the capacity of the man, they just want to put pressure on the man.

But they need to remember there’s more beyond marriage, all this pressure comes from the ladies mom’s”.

Another X user stated, “These so-called counsellors and their alo Christendom are the same folks who pushed aside traditional marriages and exalted “white wedding” as the ultimate. What changed? Are they now realising how deceptive they’ve been all these years?”

One more netizen stated, “Sense is talking”.

In related news, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, the founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, has said that a wedding is a liability to those of you who are now building wealth.

Speaking to his congregation in a viral video, Archbishop Duncan William urged young people to avoid the financial mistake of accruing debt in pursuit of a lavish wedding.

Duncan William stated, “If you have money to have a wedding, fine, but a lot of you don’t have money for weddings, and even if you do, using money for weddings is a liability and not an asset. A wedding is a liability to those of you who are now building wealth. It is an asset to those who have made their money”.

Some of you don’t even have a bedroom you are living, you don’t even have money to rent a house, and you want a wedding”.

Duncan William urged his church members to discourage people from having weddings, unless the man can prove he has GH¢100,000 in his bank account.

He added, “You don’t want to begin your marriage with debts. You go to the honeymoon, and the phones begin to ring, and it’s the lady who brought the chairs for the wedding asking for her money, then another phone rings, the woman who provided the drinks.

Discourage people who want to have a wedding until the man can prove to us that he has at least he has GH¢100,000 in his bank account; he should not have a wedding”.

He further added, “I want us to stop this thing of white wedding and you single women stop this thing where you want the man to wed you, marriage is not a wedding,  and those of you who give people money for marry who do not have, if they do not have, they should not marry because mariage is not love, love does not buy provision, love does not pay the bills.

I am not saying we should not help people who want to get married, but we need to have about five or ten marriages on the altar, everybody takes their ring, no best man, no maid of honour, no bridesmaid, nothing, we just pronounce the blessing of God, go home and make love, make babies, live your life.

Why do you have to do a reception? Why do you have to bring people to come and eat and drink your food for free after they insult you?”
