A domestic fire has consumed 14 rooms at Kukurizua in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region.

Report from the Ghana Fire Service detailed that the domestic fire outbreak destroyed 14 rooms in a multiple-room residential building.

The Fire Service revealed they received a distress call afte which firefighters were deployed just two minutes later at 1010 hours with the team arriving at 1015 hours with the fire already raging.

The Firefighters worked swiftly to contain the blaze by 1055 hours and fully extinguishing it at 1120 hours.

According to the Fire Service 14 rooms were extensively damaged by the fire with four other rooms salvaged by actions of the firefighters.

The GNFS detailed that the fire destroyed portions of the building’s roofing, along with electronic appliances, furniture, and other household.

Also, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service are currently investigating the situation that led to the outbreak.

In related news, a Samuel Addo, a journalist with Class FM who is stationed in the Central Region, was allegedly assaulted by officers of the Ghana National Fire Service some weeks ago.

The Class FM reporter was assaulted while on duty at the Kasoa New Market.

Reports suggest the Class FM reporter was allegedly assaulted while covering a fire outbreak at the Kasoa New Market in the Central Region.

According to reports, the reporter was filming a confrontation between fire service personnel and traders at the market and was allegedly attacked by some officers, despite identifying himself as a journalist.

He was physically confronted by some fire service officers who allegedly attempted to prevent him from filming the scene on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Furthermore, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has cautioned the public against the deliberate spread of misinformation following the incident.

The GNFS, in a statement, highlighted to the public that the spread of false or misleading information is punishable under Ghanaian law.

“We acknowledge the concerns raised by members of the public regarding the video in circulation. However, the matter is under Police investigation, and we urge everyone to remain calm and wait for the official findings,” the statement said.
