A distraught victim of the ongoing decongestion exercise has cried out as demolitions continue along the Kpeshie Lagoon.

In the video going rounds on social media, the decongestion exercise was currently underway along the Kpeshie Lagoon.

The demolition was being carried out by NADMO with the support of the Greater Accra Regional Minister.

The demolition exercise involves the demolition of unauthorised structures situated along the lagoon as a protective measure to reduce flooding.

According to the victim, he would become an armed robber if his business collapses.

Speaking in a viral video shared on X, the Victim of the Kpeshie Lagoon decongestion exercise boldly stated, “I am giving myself four years; if this business collapses, I will become an armed robber”.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the Victim of the Kpeshie Lagoon decongestion exercise called on the Ghana Police Service to arrest the man after threatening to become an armed robber.

A netizen wrote, “Arrest him before he even starts”.

“Is that a threat? Become an armed robber, and you will end up behind bars”, one X user added.

“Hwɛ ne gyimii! Tomorrow it’ll flood, and you’ll come and cry to Aban for support. If u like turn killer nkuto dem go demolish your stores na moagyimigyimi too much”, one X user added.

One more netizen added, “Is good they are doing this exercise. They are even making the place dirty.  I don’t know who gave them the chance to set up these containers there”.

“Flooding in our cities demands urgent and sustained attention. I truly hope this initiative helps ease our flood challenges and that those affected by the decongestion exercise are supported to regain proper footing”, another X user added.

One netizen added, “@GhPoliceService kindly show us how good a job you are doing by arresting him swiftly. The New Ghana Must Be Different. Power To The Police”

Additionally, one more X user added, “I’m very disappointed. So nobody replied to him right there. Like one soldier for reply him say we also dey wait for you”.

Meanwhile, the La Traditional Council last year warned encroachers at Laboma Beach and in the Kpeshie Lagoon areas to stay off those sites.

Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, the La Shiketele, indicated that none of the developers had title or the authority from the land owners or permits to embark on any developments there.

He warned, “All those developing at Laboma Beach and in the Kpeshie Lagoon areas are encroachers in the sight of the law and before the traditional council because they do not have a permit to undertake any development there”.

“Am shocked to the core, the level of development at these sites, because we had been here several times and we told them not to go ahead with any development because its consequences could be fatal” he said.
