Nana Aba Anamoah, a Ghanaian media personality, has refuted claims that GHOne TV host Lily Mohamed was forced to apologise to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Foreign Affairs minister.

It will be recalled that the GHOne host apologised to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for her comments on IshowSpeed and the Ghanaian passport.

According to the GHOne host, she conceived that some of her comments were overboard and unsavoury.

Speaking on GHOne TV, Lily Mohamed stated, “I am the lady in the trends, unfortunately, so this morning on GHToday, I shared an opinion on a decision by the Ghanaian government to issue a US YouTuber, IshowSpeed, a Ghanaian passport.

I conceived, however, that some of my comments were overboard and unsavory that I sincerely apologise to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and I also apologise to viewers who were offended”.

Lily Mohamed had earlier cooked Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, after he officially announced the approval of a Ghanaian passport to American streaming sensation Darren Watkins Jr., popularly known as IshowSpeed.

Speaking on the GHOne Morning Show, Lily Mohamed fired shots at Ablakwa for shoving a Ghanaian passport into the hands of someone who comes his own personal thing.

The GHOne host, in her outburst, stated, “I think that I must add my two cents to it. Let’s get serious as a country. Be like this country, we know be serious. Somebody comes to Ghana, and he is a streamer, he’s putting Ghana on the global map, he’s doing whatever… Then the person comes to Ghana for a day or two, and then you shove the Ghanaian passport into the person’s hands?

You are not being serious. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, you were somebody that we had high expectations of. You shove a Ghanaian passport into the hands of someone who comes, who is streaming, who is embarking on his own personal thing.

Okay, they are coming to jump on our Black Star Square—what has it done to our GDP? What has it added to our economy? Wodi Maya has been putting Ghana on the map globally, and America and the Americans have shoved him an American passport? Even Nigeria, has Nigeria given them passports?”

She added, “You’re given him a Ghanaian passport for what achievement? What has he done for Ghana that he’s come to sit on our jollof, and the moment he steps on the jollof, he walks away? Ghanaians jump under jollof and eat from jollof that is sat on? You are not serious? With the greatest of respect.

Let’s put some value on our passports. Let us put some value on this country. So anybody walks into Ghana ‘Oh, I’m putting Ghana on the map’—and every minute you shove them Ghanaian passports?

She further added, “Meanwhile Ghanaians are queuing for passports—Ghanaian citizens born in Ghana per the dictates of the constitution, it gives them the rights of citizenship—they’re queuing”.

In Nana Aba Anamoah’s post, she responded to a netizen who claimed Lily Mohamed was forced to apologise to Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

The netizen in his post wrote, “Sad day for Ghana.. Media Freedom yaamutu.

Journalists are apologising for going about their duties. They’re forced to apologise for stating the obvious truth”.

However, in a sharp rebuttal, Nana Aba stressed that no one can force any independent-minded person to apologise.

She asserted that the GHOne host noticed some parts of her comments were unpalatable, unacceptable and apologised.

In her post, she wrote, “The journalist in question noticed some parts of her comments were unpalatable, unacceptable and apologised. No one can force any independent-minded person to apologise.

You people deɛ, everything is down to politicking”.
