“If I’m the winner, I will bring the party together” – Ken Agyapong

Ken Agyapong, a former Assin Central Member of Parliament and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, has promised to unite the NPP if he emerges as the winner.

According to Ken Agyapong, whichever way the NPP presidential race goes, the party must remain united, arguing that internal contests can be tough but should not result in divisions.

He further admitted that during the internal contest, some words were used which are not palatable, but that does not mean one should leave the party.

Speaking to Channel One News at a polling centre in Assin Central on Saturday, January 31, Mr Agyapong declared, “If I’m the winner, I will be able to bring the party together.”

“This shouldn’t be a problem at all. We’re all going to come together as one party and work. As for contests, sometimes it gets tough, and some words are used which are not palatable, but we have to take it as it is, but that doesn’t mean we should go out of the party,” he said.

“I don’t think there will be a repetition of what happened in 2023. We hope it doesn’t happen. We have all done our job well to prevent rigging and everything, so I expect a fair contest,” he said.

Ken Agyapong further appealed to delegates to vote massively in his favour, urging them to “vote number one.”

Also, In a viral video, Ken Agyapong was spotted in his usual long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans as he arrived at one polling stations at the Assin Central constituency to cast his vote.

Ken Agyapong exchange handshake with the EC officials and went through the process to cast his vote.

Ken Agyapong, in his final message, appealed to party delegates to allow him to serve them as their presidential candidate for the 2028 general election.

According to Ken Agyapong, he stands for industrialisation, employment and jobs.

He argued that Ghanaian youths need employment, which will be his main goal when given the opportunity.

Speaking in a televised address to national delegates on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Ken Agyapong stated, “I do not believe in revenge politics, and I will not tolerate any attempt to shrink the party by threatening its grassroots. Be assured of this”.

“The NPP was built on courage and internal democracy. So, I say to you, stand firm,” he stated.

“I stand for industrialisation, and that’s all my message. I am also for employment and jobs. What we need in this country is employment for the youth. So please give me the opportunity to serve you, and I will not disappoint you,” he said.

Meanwhile, 211,849 registered NPP delegates across 16 regions of the country are voting in the keenly anticipated NPP presidential primaries.

NPP delegates from all 16 regions, and all 275 constituencies, grassroots organisers, constituency executives, and Members of Parliament are expected to vote.

Over 900 voting centres have been set up for the exercise, with voting ending at  3:00 PM, after which counting will commence immediately.

Also, a central collation centre has been established in Accra, where all certified results from each of the 275 constituencies will be transmitted for final certification and declaration.

The former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Abetifi MP, Dr Bryan Acheampong, Bosomtwe MP, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former NPP General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, are the five contesting to become the NPP flagbearer for the 2028 election.
