Ghana Police places a GH₵50,000 bounty on robbery suspect

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has declared a suspect, identified as Hoyeefi, wanted, announcing a GH¢50,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Suspect Hoyeefi have been declared wanted in connection with a series of violent robberies in the Ahafo Region.

According to a Police statement, Hoyeefi is the leader of the robbery gang responsible for a series of coordinated attacks carried out on December 2, 2025.

The Police detailed that his attack targeted the Nkaseim Police Station, Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company, Kobby Gold Buying Company, and the Asutifi Rural Bank area.

The Police added that members of the public with knowledge of the suspect’s whereabouts can provide information through the police emergency lines 191, 18555, or 112.

In a press release issued on February 1, 2026, by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo read, “The Ghana Police Service has declared a suspect, identified as Hoyeefi, wanted in connection with the robbery attack at Nkaseim in the Ahafo Region.

2. Investigations have identified suspect Hoyeefi as the leader of the robbery gang responsible for the coordinated attacks on the Nkaseim Police Station, Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company, Kobby Gold Buying Company, and the Asutifi Rural Bank area on 2nd December 2025

3. The Ghana Police Service is offering a reward of GHC50,000.00 to any person who provides credible information that leads to the arrest of suspect Hoyeefi.

4. Members of the public with information on his whereabouts are encouraged to contact the nearest police station or call the Police emergency numbers 191, 18555 or 112”.

Meanwhile, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), has announced that the Ghana Police Service has arrested seven suspects in connection with a Tamale–Buipe highway.

According to COP Lydia Donkor, the highway robbery that occurred last year with a member of the Council of State was among the victims.

She announced that the suspect was arrested on January 11, 2026 and has been identified as Rashida Yussif, Aaron Abaana, Wilson Abasong, Muntaru Iddrisu, Aminu Zibrilla, Innusa Sumaila, and Haruna Safianu.

Speaking to the media at the Police Headquarters in Accra on Thursday, January 29, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor detailed, “The police have arrested seven suspects in a highway robbery involving a Council of State member, which occurred sometime last year”.

“On 21st July 2025, the victim was travelling along the Tamale–Buipe highway when he was attacked by six armed men who robbed him of personal belongings, including mobile phones, cash, wristwatches, reading glasses, laptops, and other items.”

“He was robbed of mobile phones, some cash, wristwatches, reading glasses, a laptop and other items,” she said.
