Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr Nana Freduah Agyemang Badu II, the Dormaahene and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, has warned that he would start taking his own taxes in Dormaa.

According to the Dormahene, he would start taking his own taxes if the government does not stop the Asantehene from using the Asante flag in Ghana.

The Dormahene stressed that Ghana is one, and all Ghanaians have agreed that President John Mahama is the one we are following.

Speaking in a viral video shared on X, the Dormaahene stated, “Everywhere he would go, the Ghana flag is supposed to be in front of him; any other flag must be lowered.

I Agyemang Badu II, I will rise up in Ghana, I will go to Dormaa and collect taxes, and I will see who can stop me, that is where they will know the issue is huge”, he declared.

In related news, the Dormaahene last year praised the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his work in the Bawku mediation.

The Dormaahene highlighted that the Asantehene’s Bawku mediation work deserves commendation, as the task was a difficult one.

He further cautioned the Ghanaian public against speaking negatively or belittling the mediation efforts.

According to the Dormaahene, the Asantehene deserves commendation for achieving a positive outcome.

Speaking to his subject in a viral video shared on social media, the Dormaahene cautioned, “The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, just recently, President Akufo-Addo gave him a task, and President Mahama also asked him to continue. Some people are speaking against the work, some are Chiefs, MPs, and even the MPs’ comments. I thought it was not true because with social media, everyone can say anything”.

“I am pleading with everyone that the mediation efforts carried out by the Asantehene, in Bawku was a difficult one and deserve commendation, given the difficulty of the task he undertook, and there is no criticism needed; anyone engaging in that should desist from it”, he added.

However, the Dormaahene and the Asantehene feud stems from historical claims, which Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II believes are being misrepresented in the public domain.

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, some weeks ago, punched holes in the historical tales of Okomfo Anokye.

History tells us that the Asante Kingdom was founded in the 18th century by King Osei Tutu I, with the direction of his spiritual leader, Okomfo Anokye.

According to historical accounts, Okomfo Anokye planted two trees in a forest, saying one would grow to become the capital of the Ashanti Kingdom, with the other dying.

However, in a recent viral video, the Dormahene has debunked the tales as lies.

Meanwhile, the  Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has revealed that plans are in motion to help resolve the ongoing feud between Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Ahmed Ibrahim revealed he has engaged some stakeholders to help mediate the feud that appears to be escalating.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM, Ahmed Ibrahim detailed, “The Dormahene is my father, and the Otumfuo is also my father, but looking at the way things are going, they are part of the two powerful Kings we have in the country, and their efforts in resolving most issues in the country are high. They are structures we cannot do without as a country.

Ahmed Ibrahim cited the Saudi King, Morocco and Dubai using their Chieftaincy to transform their country.

“If you listen to what I said about the Saudi King, Morocco and Dubai, their Chieftaincy transformed their country so clearly, Ghana, we can use our chieftaincy to transform the country”, he added.

The minister noted, “In Ghana, we can also use our Chieftaincy to develop the country. When we had the Dagbon issue, was it not Opemsuo (Otumfuo Osei Tutu II) who resolved it?

“As Minister responsible for Chieftaincy, I have spoken to some people about this matter, and we will engage them further. So, we will speak to them. This is the first time I am saying it. I respect authority”,  he stated.
