Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has announced a major shake-up in the Ghana Police Service leadership.
In a letter signed by the IGP, Yohuno detailed the official posting, several Directors General and Deputy Commissioners of Police were reassigned to new positions across the Police Service.
According to the IGP, the move is to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen leadership and improve service delivery.
IGP Yohuno key changes include:
COP Dr Sayibu Pabi Gariba: Director General/Technology → Director General/NAPD
COP Iddi Lansah Seidu: Director General/Welfare → Director General/Technology
COP Dr Vance Baba Gariba: Director General/Operations → Director General/Research & Planning
COP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe: Director General/PPSB → Director General/Operations
DCOP Darko Offei Lomotey: Director General/Research & Planning → Director General/PPSB
DCOP Eric Ken Winful: Director General/NAPD → Director General/Welfare
DCOP Charles K. Adu: Regional Commander → Eastern Sector (ESR)
DCOP Isaac Asante: Eastern Region → National Headquarters
DCOP George B Ohene Boadi: New Regional Commander/Central Region (CR)
DCOP George Ankomah: Central MTTD/AR → Regional Commander/Eastern Region (ENR)
DCOP Alex Kodjo Wowolo: Director/ICT at National Headquarters → In charge of Central MTTD/AR
In related news, IGP Yohuno has said officers of the Ghana Police Service can no longer be bribed.
According to IGP Yohunu, anyone who attempts to bribe a Police Officer in the line of duty will be disgraced.
He stressed that Police Officer now prefer to be promoted for good behaviour rather than accept bribes.
Speaking at an event, the Inspector General of Police stated, “Today, I assure you, you cannot bribe a policeman anymore. If you attempt to bribe a police man, he will disgrace you. They all want to be promoted for good behaviour”.
“We want to be one of the best police in the world, and we are carving that image, which generation upon generation will follow, so that we get our glory back and make everybody in Ghana proud,” he said.
