Residents of Dome-Kwabenya, Ayawaso West Wuogon, Okaikwei North call out MPs

Residents of the Dome-Kwabenya, Ayawaso West Wuogon, and Okaikwei North constituencies have teamed up, calling out their respective members of parliament to intervene in the reconstruction of a heavily damaged bridge in the area.

According to the residents, the deteriorating structure has become life-threatening and continues to trigger flooding across parts of the affected constituencies, especially during heavy rains.

The residents are therefore appealing to authorities to prioritise the project to restore safe access and prevent recurring floods.

A viral 4-minute video shared on social media at the site of the erosion-damaged sections and flooded areas.

The resident stressed that the structure played a role in past tragedies like the drowning of two children in a prior flood.

Reports suggest the damaged bridge joins three constitucies the Dome-Kwabenya, Ayawaso West Wuogon, and Okaikwei North together.

According to a narrator in the video, when it rains, the rain water destroy people’s homes and properties, arguing that how long will this problem be left unresolved?

The narrator called on the  Ayawaso West Wuogon MP, John Dumelo, highlighting that the rain water destroy more of his constituents and further called on the other two MPs to help solve their constituents’ worries.

“The Christian village bridge, when the rain waters come, the bridge is too small, so it get choke and goes back to the homes of residents to destroy people’s homes and properties. We are pleading with President Mahama, the Greater Accra Minister, to come and fix it, the road is even too small”.

Speaking in the viral video, one resident stated, “Every year our things are destroyed, we are pleading with you, Mahama, come to our help, we all voted for the NDC”.

The post reports a February 10, 2026, protest by residents in Ghana’s Dome-Kwabenya, Ayawaso West Wuogon, and Okaikwei North constituencies, demanding urgent repairs to a crumbling bridge that triggers severe flooding during rains and endangers lives.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the news stated, “I’m tired of Ghana as a civilian mpo .. ow everyone is just disturbing the presidency because he is a listening president who tries to solve problems that NPP couldn’t solve for 8 years.

suddenly we want this man to fix everything within 2 years?. let’s be fair to the man”.

“Any infrastructure that sits on the border of Two constituencies is likely to suffer such fate. Both MPs, Dey look who goes do”, a netizen added.

Another X user added, “They’ve built houses way too close to that gutter. They should first vacate those buildings before any proper reconstruction or repair can be done”.

“Only the ministers know how they won their seats. No one can pressure them. They deduct the real votes minus their tactics and know the true municipality they’re in”, one more Ghanaian added.

A netizen added, “John Dumelor. So ein body SRC president dey run legon, he hopes people dey street dey suffer”.
