Irate residents storm Mamprobi Polyclinic over an alleged baby theft

The information gathered suggests there was an uneasy tension yesterday afternoon, February 17, 2026, at the Mamprobi Polyclinic in the Greater Accra Region, following reports of an alleged baby theft.

Reports suggest a newborn was taken from the facility by a woman dressed as a nurse.

According to reports, the baby was stolen after the mother delivered the child through a cesarean section.

In a viral video circulating on social media Concerned relatives and community members demanded swift action as authorities intensified investigations.

The Concerned relatives and community members further accused the workers of being accomplices in the incident while recording the confrontation.

In the video, one angry woman was heard shouting, saying, “Someone gave birth through an operation, and you have stolen the child to go and sell it. All of you will suffer. Someone’s child, and this hot afternoon, you have stolen the child,”

Another voice stated, “All of them are aware and accomplices. Do you know how she has suffered?”

Meanwhile, Ghanaians on X have been reacting to news saying, “How can someone go to Ward and steal a baby when there are security cameras? There are security cameras with no security?? Make this make sense bro”.

“You see the nonchalance in our hospitals? How person go walk straight in and steal a whole baby and walk out without anyone noticing? Sue them!”, a netizen added.

“This is just small job for the Ghana Police. Them go arrest the woman within 2days if only e be true”, one X user added.

“Apparently, the woman was able to just walk in and steal the baby without any resistance whatsoever. Where was the security?”, a netizen added.

“So this woman randomly walks into the hospital, headed to where the baby is and stole the baby without a single soul seeing her?  I don’t understand this”, one more Ghanaian added.

A netizen added, “When it comes to public institutions where people can easily commit crimes, hospitals are included . Only a few hospitals actually have tight security”.

One X user added, “The baby and the baby thief are not missing. All the staff at the Mamprobi Polyclinic know that whoever came for the baby, everyone on duty at the time should be arrested and caged in different cells by now, including the medical doctors on duty at the time”

“All staff members on duty should be suspended immediately without pay. If such decisive action were taken, the baby would be found in no time, and this kind of negligence would never happen again. But this is Ghana fa ma Nyame”, a netizen added.

Addionally one more Ghanaian sharing the news stated, “The woman captured by the CCTV camera in the second frame allegedly stole a baby shortly after the mother delivered at Mamprobi Polyclinic yesterday.

Kindly report to the nearest police station if you see her or have any information about her whereabouts”.
