Elizabeth, a survivor of the recent Burkina Faso Terrorist attack, has shared an account of the ordeal faced by the Ghanaian tomato traders.
She recounted the moments of the ambush, detailing her miraculous survival and the circumstances surrounding the group’s only male survivor.
According to Elizabeth, the life of the sole male survivor out of six men was spared as the women in the group acted instinctively to shield him during the chaos.
She detailed that they were reassured by a local leader that the fighting involved rival armed groups who were French; however, the attackers stormed the area and opened fire.
Elizabeth explained that it was indeed common for them to meet these armed groups on their trading trips, adding that they were always spared and had no anticipation of an attack.
According to her, several men were shot at close range, adding that she narrowly escaped execution after one member of the armed group repeatedly intervened, stopping another from shooting her and the women with her.
Elizabeth, breaking down in tear added that from a distance, they watched helplessly as some of their colleagues lay injured near their truck, begging for help.
She also recalled how the throats of the injured were slit.
“Between 5 and 7 AM, we heard gunshots and explosions. The driver got scared and tried to move us away.”
“They made us form a queue and began praying and chanting Allahu Akbar before pointing their guns at us,” she recalled.
Some X users reacting to the news stated, “All this is happening in Burkina Faso, but you see the media propaganda of Traore’s good work????
In the same way, this blogger and others are refusing to uphold unbiased reportage after fame”.
“This woman needs a thorough Psychological counselling. I’m afraid this trauma may live with her forever”, a netizen added.
