Kwesi Pratt Jnr, a Veteran journalist and Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, has boldly stated that the terrorists who killed Ghanaian traders going to buy tomatoes in Burkina Faso were supplied by Ukraine.

According to Kwesi Pratt, this is not a rumour, stressing that the Ukrainian intelligence itself has admitted that it is involved in the terrorist activities in the Sahel.

He alleged that JNIM terrorists, who killed eight Ghanaian tomato traders on February 16, 2026, in an attack in Titao, Burkina Faso, received supplies from Ukraine.

The Veteran journalist further declared that any country that is subverting the Sahel state is Ghana’s enemy.

Speaking at an event organised by the Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG) with Kwame Nkrumah, Kwesi Pratt boldly stated, “The terrorists who killed the Ghanaian women going to buy tomatoes were supplied by Ukraine, and this is not a rumour. The Ukrainian intelligence itself has admitted that it is involved in the Terrorist activities in the Sahel”.

“Comrades and friends, any country that is subverting the Sahel state is our enemy, any country that aids fighting the people of Sahel determine to wage a struggle so that they can control their resources, cannot be our ally, cannot be our friends, and that is why I like to call on the Mahama administration to look sharp”, he added.

Some Ghanaian reacting to Kwesi Pratt’s bold remarks stated, “The way you people are forcefully trying to tickle these war zone countries is beyond comprehension! Know your limit oo. They can wipe us out in seconds yoo”.

“Let us grow our tomatoes in peace and mind our own business before our grounds for ponding fufu become a war zone”, a netizen added.

One more netizen added, “If this is true, then it’s really damning. This is because I know Russia’s Wagner is already in the Sahel. So if Ukraine is also there terrorusing people, are they then exporting their war to Africa?”

In an earlier post, Kwesi Pratt stated that news about Ghanaian Tomato traders killed in a terrorist attack in Titao, northern Burkina Faso, immediately raises several questions.

According to Kwesi Pratt, it is time for Ghana to wake.

The Veteran journalist questioned how a tropical country like Ghana, with all its favourable conditions, depends on Burkina Faso for tomatoes.

He further questioned how Ghana has watched on as terrorists wreak havoc in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger when Ghana can also be a target.

In a social media post, Kwesi Pratt wrote, “Some press reports say that seven Ghanaian tomato traders have been killed in a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso.

This immediately raises a number of questions.

How come that a tropical country like Ghana, with all the favourable conditions for tomato production, has become dependent on Burkina Faso for the supply of the vegetable?

Why have we sat back and watched terrorists wreak havoc in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, knowing fully well that the more successful they get in the Sahel, the more likely it is that we will become their targets?

Why has Ghana not taken action against the foreign governments which have been providing weapons and intelligence to the terrorists in the Sahel?

Is Ghana not aware of the fact that Western military bases in the sub-region are being used to supply the terrorists?

It is time for Ghana to wake up!”.
