Kwesi Pratt Jnr, the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, has schooled Media personality and host of Peace FM’s morning show, Kokrokoo, Kwami Sefa Kayi on his show.
According to Kwami Sefa Kayi, JB Danquah and Obetsebi Lamptey should not have died in prison.
However, Kwesi Pratt Jnr reminded Kwami Sefa Kayi, Obetsebi Lamptey was tried by three panel of judges who described him as a terrorist.
Speaking on Kokrokoo, Kwami Sefa Kayi stated, “It does not mean that during Nkrumah’s time, some things were that was not bad. The benefit of hindsight, JB Danquah should not have died in prison, Obetsebi Lamptey should not have died in prison”.
Kwesi Pratt, responding to his claims, stated, Obetsebi Lamptey, who placed him in prison? Obetsebi Lamptey was tried by a panel of three judges: Justice Aku Korsah, Justice Van Lare and Akufo-Addo’s father. I have the judgment in the judgment. They described Obetsebi Lamptey as a terrorist. I am not the one saying it. Nana Akufo-Addo’s father, so when you are speaking about Obetsebi Lamptey, take your time, go and ask Akufo-Addo’s father”.
Meanwhile, in 2024, Kwesi Pratt Jr., in his opposition to the Founders’ Day argument by then-President Akufo-Addo and members of the New Patriotic Party, made an interesting historical revelation.
He argued that President Akufo-Addo who wants recognized Emmanuel Obetsebi Lamptey as a founder of Ghana, was once convicted of terrorism by the president’s father.
Speaking on Pan African TV, Kwesi Pratt recounted, “The father of the current president and two other judges, Justice Van Lare and Justice Aku Korsah, tried Obetsebi Lamptey and in their judgment described him as a terrorist. They sentenced him and put him in jail. Akufo-Addo’s father was one of three judges who convicted Obetsebi Lamptey as a terrorist and committed him to prison.
“If we are being told today to celebrate Obetsebi Lamptey as a founder of this republic, is that not an insult? The judgment is available in a document titled ‘Terrorism Under Nkrumah’. Today, President Akufo-Addo and the NPP want us to adopt a terrorist as the founder of a republic. I feel so insulted,” Pratt said.
In related news, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, a Veteran journalist and Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, has said that claims that General Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka staged the February 24, 1966, coup against Kwame Nkrumah are completely falsifying history.
According to Kwesi Pratt, the coup against Kwame Nkrumah was planned, sponsored and activated by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States of America, with Kotoka, Afrifa and others being mere fronts.
In a post shared on X, Kwesi Prat wrote, “To claim that General Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka staged the February 24, 1966, coup against Nkrumah is to completely falsify history.
The fact is that the coup was planned, sponsored and activated by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States of America and that Kotoka, Afrifa and others were mere fronts.
The facts have been made public in the declassified documents of the CIA on the coup which have been compiled in the book “The Great Deception – How the CIA Overthrew Nkrumah” authored by the Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG).
Copies of this book are available at the Freedom Bookshop, 16 Laimomo Close, Asylum Down, Accra, Ghana. The Bookshop can also be reached on telephone, 050462184. Digital Address – GA 048-5576”.
