“NPP made mistakes, things we did in the past will not be repeated” – Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has admitted that the NPP made mistakes in power.

According to Chairman Wontumi, with all that he has been through, if the NPP win power in 2028, the past will not be repeated.

Speaking to party faithfuls in the central region, Chairman Wontumi stated, “We have made a lot of mistakes when we were in power recently; we did not look after things properly. Now that we are in opposition, Chairman Wontumi, I have been through so many hardships, and I have learned from them”.

“If we are to win back power in 2028, the things that happened in the past will not happen again”, he added.

In related news, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has endorsed the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, as the next party National Chairman.

In a viral video, Chairman Wontumi was arriving at a Bawumia’s residence where he exchanged greetings with some members of the NPP around.

Wontumi later walked inside Dr Bawumia’s residence, saying, “Your excellency, the president”.

Dr Bawumia stated, “INCOMING, how are you?”.

Wontumi responded, “Very well, my boss”.

The former vice president, referring to Wontumi as the incoming clear, shows his endorsement of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP as the next National Chairman.

Recall, Wontumi, who has officially declared his intention to contest for the NPP National Chairman position.

According to Wontumi, having consulted his Maker and sought the counsel of party elders, he has declared his intention to serve as National Chairman of the NPP.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 4, the Ashanti Regional Chairman stated, “Our party has faced challenges and learned hard lessons along the way. At this critical moment he NPP demands leadership that is steady, principled, and committed to unity.

A leader who is grassroots personified, who values every member from our elders to the youthfu allies, and who is willing to make the ultimate sacrifices for the party

Bernard Antwi-Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), having consulted my Maker and sought the counsel of party elders, hereby declare my intention to serve as National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party. I do so not for personal ambition, but to strengthen, rebuild, and unify our great part.

The road ahead will demand vision, courage, and unwavering determination. Leadership at this moment requires bravery—the courage to stand firm, make difficult decisions, and be willing to lose everything if necessary for the NPP.

We are ready. We are organised. We are built for the battle ahead.

Together, we will restore confidence, empower our grassroots, and position the NPP to win decisively in 2028. This is our moment to rise, to lead, and to deliver for the NPP”.

Wontumi’s declaration sets the stage for a potentially heated contest for the NPP’s top leadership position.

Meanwhile, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, the Founder and Leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel, has prophesied that Chairman Wontumi will become the next National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The man of God further revealed that what he has seen is that Chairman Wontumi is the next NPP National Chairman.
