The Foreign Affairs Ministry has advised Ghanaians intending to embark on a Hajj pilgrim must hold on to their travel plans.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, prospective pilgrims must hold on with travel plans temporarily in light of the security situation in parts of the Middle East.
In a post shared by GHOne TV, the Foreign Affairs Ministry is quoted to have said, “Hajj pilgrims should hold on with travel plans temporarily until the conflict situation in the Middle East stabilises”.
Some Ghanaians reacting to the news stated, “It’s so funny that people from Ghana are not even concerned about the ongoing war but still thinking of Hajj. The brain of our people is amazing”.
A netizen added, “I know some Muslims will be mad about this, but brothers and sisters, listen to your leaders”.
“Won’t God get angry that one did not travel from his country to another to worship Him by going around the Kabah? Why be less God who protects his children from weapons of death?”, a netizen added.
The news follows the United States and Israel, which on February 28, 2026, launched coordinated military strikes against Iran.
The joint operation targeted Iranian military infrastructure, leadership compounds, and strategic sites.
Iran has reportedly launched retaliatory attacks on multiple American bases, including a Naval Base in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.
All scheduled flights to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have also reportedly been cancelled as the Gulf countries have closed their airspace in light of the attacks.
The BBC in a news report stated, “Explosions have been heard in cities across Iran, according to Iranian media.
The Fars news agency reports that explosions were heard in the cities of Isfahan, Qom, Karaj, and Kermanshah.
The news agency has also reported that several missiles hit University Street and the Republic area of the Iranian capital Tehran.
Explosions were heard in two locations in Tehran, the Islamic Republic News Agency also reports. It says that smoke can be seen in the centre of the city”.
“Trump confirms US involved in attack on Iran
US President Donald Trump has posted an eight-minute video on his social media platform, Truth Social and confirms that the US was involved in the attack on Iran.
He said, “we sought repeatedly to make a deal. We tried.”
He added that “we are going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally… obliterated.”
Also, the Iranian state media have confirmed that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed at his office in the Israeli-US attacks on Iran.
Meanwhile, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Foreign Affairs Minister, has announced that all Ghanaian embassy staff from Iran have been successfully evacuated following the security concerns.
In a post on X on Monday, March 2, 2026, Mr Ablakwa disclosed, “I am delighted to announce that we have conducted a successful evacuation of all our embassy staff in Iran.
The Ghanaian diplomats are safe and in high spirits.
Ghana’s embassy in Iran is now closed sine die.
The safety, welfare and protection of Ghanaians remains our utmost priority in these tempestuous times.
For God and Country”.
