The Wa High Court, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, sentenced Serial killer Shariff Abdulai, also known as “Cristos,” to life imprisonment with hard labour for the murder of Issah Yahaya and twenty-two others.
Police statement detailed that the convict admitted killing sixteen people in Wa, five in Bole, and one each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi.
He was arrested on October 6, 2025, after intelligence-led operations and investigations.
He was later arraigned before the High Court after committal from the District Magistrate Court, where he pleaded guilty.
Presiding Judge, Justice Osei-Wusu Antwi, convicted and sentenced him, and he will serve his sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.
In a statement issued on March 4, 2026, the Police stated, “On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the High Court in Wa sentenced Shariff Abdulai, alias ‘Cristos’, to life imprisonment for the murder of Issah Yahava and twenty-two (22) others.
The convict pleaded guilty to killing sixteen (16) people in Wa, five (5) in Bole and one (1) each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi.
On October 6, 2025, Police arrested the convict following sustained, intelligence-led operations and investigations.
He was subsequently arraigned before the High Court on March 4, 2026, after committal from the District Magistrate Court. The accused was represented by counsel and pleaded guilty simpliciter to the charge. Upon his own plea, the presiding Judge, His Lordship Justice Osei-Wusu Antwi, sentenced him to life imprisonment In Hard Labour.
The convict is to serve his sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.

In related news, two suspected robbers have been shot during a robbery at the home of a Court of Appeal Judge.
Reports suggest the two suspected robbers stormed the home of the Court of Appeal Judge in the Ashanti Region.
The two suspects are said to have stormed the Judge’s home armed with cutlasses and scissors on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
They attempted to break into the judge’s vehicle to carry out the robbery when they were confronted by a police officer on duty at the premises.
The information from the Ashanti Regional Police Command detailed that the officer at the premises injured the two in response to their threat.
According to a Police statement confirming the incident, adding that the suspects are currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital under police guard.
