“I see you, and I hear you, and I believe in your potential” – Mahama tells Ghanaian youths

President John Dramani Mahama, during Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebrations at the Jubilee House, delivered an inspiring message Ghanaians youths.

According to John Mahama, he sees, hears and believes in the potential of the Ghanaian youths.

He stressed that the Ghanaian youths belong to a generation that is armed with tools and opportunities that earlier generations could hardly have imagined.

President Mahama stressed the transformative power of technology in the hands of young Ghanaians, adding that the future belongs to those who prepare for it.

Addressing the public during Ghana’s Independence Day celebrations marking the country’s 69th anniversary under the theme “Building Prosperity, Inspiring Hope” on Friday, March 6, John Mahama stated, “To the young people of this country, I see you, and I hear you, and I believe in your potential,” President Mahama said.

“You belong to a generation that is armed with tools and opportunities that earlier generations could hardly have imagined.”

“In your hand, a smartphone transforms into a classroom, in your hands, a smartphone transforms into a business platform, in your hands, a smartphone transforms into a creative studio and gateway to a global economy,” he noted.

He further added that he pledged to serve Ghanaians with humility, integrity and dedication.

Mahama further called on all citizens to play their part in advancing the nation’s development.

He added, “The journey has not always been smooth. We have stumbled and often felt disappointed in ourselves, but we have never given up”.

“As your president, I pledge to serve with integrity, humility, and unwavering dedication to the welfare of our people. But Ghana’s progress cannot rely solely on my leadership; it will depend on every citizen doing their part,” he added.

“Wherever you are, whatever you do, do your part with excellence. Do it for Ghana, for Africa, and for the generations yet unborn,” he said.

In related news, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister for Government Communications, has said this year’s Independence Day celebration will cost about GH¢1.5 million.

Speaking in an interview on Joy FM on March 5, Kwakye Ofosu stated, “It is to save cost. We have decided to save money and use it for other pressing national issues. It will cost 95 per cent less than the previous cost, and that amounts to about GH¢1.5 million”.

Sixty-nine years of nationhood is a very significant achievement,”

He added, “Over the years, we have had our ups and downs as a country, but by and large, we have managed to hold ourselves together. We’ve built a nation that is inclusive, where there is religious and social tolerance”.

“Even if we’ve had setbacks, we’ve also made incremental progress. Since the advent of this government, a lot has been done to improve the economy. The economy is in much better shape than it was before”.
