Four people have been reported dead, with 14 others injured, following an accident at Dawadawa along the Kintampo–Tamale Highway in the Bono East Region.

Reports suggest the tragic accident occurred on Saturday, April 4, with the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) receiving a distress call around 6:55 a.m.

Led by Assistant Station Officer Emmanuel Agyekum, the GNFS dispatched an eight-member rescue team to the scene.

The collision was between a Kia Rhino truck transporting poultry feed and a Sprinter bus carrying passengers.

The GNFS detailed that 4 persons were trapped in the mangled vehicles and were retrieved lifeless, with 14 others who sustained injuries rushed to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital for treatment.

The accident comes on the heels of another fatal accident in the same municipality, which claimed eight lives and left 27 others injured at Tahiru Akura on Friday, April 3.

Also, reports gathered suggest several people have died following a tragic, violent collision involving a passenger bus and a truck at Kwashieman.

The information gathered suggests the tragic incident occurred at Kwashieman in Accra around 4 a.m. on Good Friday, April 3.

Details reports by CITINews stated, “a Grand Bird bus travelling from Takoradi towards Sowutuom attempted to make a turn at the Kwashieman traffic light.

At the same time, a truck loaded with onions was approaching the intersection from the Lapaz direction, heading towards the Kasoa stretch.

According to reports, the truck was moving on an amber light when the bus driver proceeded.

Despite repeated honking by the truck driver to alert the bus to clear the intersection, the two vehicles collided, resulting in a powerful impact.

The force of the crash pushed the truck off its path, causing it to veer into pedestrians who had gathered at the traffic light, waiting to cross the road”.

Reports suggest the bus was transporting passengers who were heading to a convention.

Meanwhile, the Police are yet to determine the number of casualties due to the severity of the crash.

Also, a road accident on the Accra–Kumasi Highway has claimed the life of one person, with several others injured.

Reports suggest the head-on collision between a VIP bus and a Toyota Prado occurred at Akyem Sekyere.

According to reports, the crash occurred at dawn on Thursday, April 2.

The information gathered from the Police revealed that the injured have been rushed to nearby health facilities, where they are receiving treatment.

The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service reports suggest that traffic has been diverted at both the Apedwa and Asiakwa sections of the highway.

Travellers have been stranded for hours due to the major gridlock, as many travel for the Easter festivities.

Meanwhile, Authorities have advised drivers travelling from Accra to Kumasi to reroute through Kyebi from the Apedwa stretch with those heading from Kumasi are being diverted through Asiakwa to rejoin the main road at Apedwa.
