Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has officially begun enforcing a strict dress code policy to promote a decent and conducive academic environment.
According to a notice shared on X, KNUST Libraries showed pictures of what the university considers inappropriate attire for both male and female students.
The notice highlighted for males, shirts with deep necklines, sleeveless tops or vests, sagging trousers worn below the waist, boxer shorts, shorts above knee length, and caps, as inappropriate.
For the females, crop tops, biker pants, deep-cut cleavage outfits, midriff-baring tops, short shorts or hot pants, short revealing skirts, and caps are considered inappropriate by the KNUST.
KNUST libraries notice further stated, βAnyone found indecently dressed will not be allowed entry or will be asked to leave the library. Any dress that can not be taken to lectures cannot be brought to the libraryβ.

A netizen added, βHope the laws will be the same for the foreign students who mostly come in sleeveless and shorts/pants as well. The weather is hot, and we must wake up to reality. I don’t see the bearing of these directives on academic work. Of course, indecent dressing is a big no noβ.
