Kwame Prempeh, the former Deputy CEO of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), has told the NDC-led John Mahama government that they cannot govern with lies and propaganda, as it will catch up with them.

According to Kwame Prempeh, the NDC government must be brutally honest and admit that they were wrong.

He argued that the NDC in opposition claims external factors have nothing to do with Ghana, but is now admitting that external factors have an impact on Ghana.

Speaking on JoyNews on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Kwame Prempeh stated, “The petroleum crisis is a dicey one. And I, for one, am happy, you know, that at least the NDC, including President Mahama, is now admitting that external factors have an impact on Ghana. I think they should be brutally honest and admit that they were wrong when previously they were saying it had no impact”, he said.

“Now they are clearly admitting that, yes, what happens outside Ghana also affects Ghana, you know. And it has been like that for a very long time”.

He further added, “But of course, for propaganda purposes, they say they did. And you know, I always say that you can lie and you can use propaganda to win an election, but you cannot govern with lies and propaganda because it will catch up with you. And that is what is happening now with the NDC. And it is good that they are saying they are going to do something about it”.

“But they should admit to Ghanaians that they lied to Ghanaians, used propaganda to come to power and that external factors do affect Ghana as well”, he insisted.

It will be recalled that President John Dramani Mahama has warned that the escalating conflict in the Middle East could have serious economic consequences for Africa.

According to John Mahama, hostilities involving the United States, Israel, and Iran would hurt African economies.

Mahama argued that the Middle East is the epicentre of global oil supplies, adding that African economies must brace for inevitable shocks.

President Mahama made this known while speaking during a bilateral meeting with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the State House in Arusha on March 2, 2026.

He expressed alarm over the intensifying exchanges between the U.S., Israel, and Iran, as well as the counter-attacks, stressing that the tensions would trigger the rise of crude oil prices, which would impact African countries.

Meanwhile, John Boadu, a National Chairman hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said the ruling National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) government lies has caught up with them.

The NPP man disclosed that the NDC, since assuming office, has changed its position on several issues.

According to John Boadu, if the NPP gets its act right, it will be back in power in 2028.

Speaking to the media, John Boadu stated, “If we get our acts right, I can assure you that the New Patriotic Party will come back to power in the 2028 elections”.

“For the lies the NDC peddled, it is just a matter of time. Their lies are gradually catching up with them, and the people of Ghana will deal with them soon”.
