Gabby Asumin, a Veteran National Democratic Congress (NDC) communicator, has cried out over being neglected by his party and the current John Mahama government.

According to Gabby Asumin, despite his long years of service to the NDC, he has been sidelined both during opposition and now in government.

He disclosed that he feels emotionally tortured and sometimes cries.

Gabby Asumin further disclosed that one of his children quizzed him on what he had done to the NDC party and the president, for them to ignore him.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM, the NDC man stated, “Before the government lost in 2016, I was sacked because I spoke for the NDC. Till now that our government has come to power, I was hoping to get something to take care of my family, but nothing. I was in opposition with no work, and now that I am in government, still no work”.

“I feel the emotional torture. Sometimes I cry. One of my children asked me what I have done to the NDC party and the president that they have ignored me. I have served the party for long,” he said.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has called on party members who are yet to receive political appointments to remain calm and committed to the party’s long-term vision.

Asiedu Nketia quizzed the NDC member if one did not get an appointment when the government had 120 ministers, what are their chances of getting a position when the government is now running on 60 ministers.

He, however, acknowledged the disappointment among some party faithful but urged them to adopt a long-term perspective.

The NDC chairman emphasised that benefits in politics are not always immediate or evenly distributed.

Speaking in a video shared by TV3 on April 21, 2026, Asiedu Nketiah stated, “And when President Mahama suggested reducing ministers from 120 to 60, we were all clapping”.

“If you didn’t get an appointment when the government had 120 ministers, what is your chance of getting a position when we now have 60 ministers?” he asked.

He further added, “I beg you, those who do not have an appointment, those who feel disappointed, in politics, you may join, but your benefit will not come at the same time as others.

“Some may not benefit directly from joining the NDC, but your children may benefit in the future. There are others who will get their benefit today, but in future their children will not get any benefit”.

“If you say because you were not appointed, you will undermine those who were, then you will be destroying the party and all of us,” he cautioned.

Earlier, Johnson Asiedu Nketia told disgruntled party members that President John Mahama cannot appoint everyone.

According to Asiedu Nketia, appointments under the current Mahama administration are limited; however urged party supporters who are yet to receive appointments to remain calm and exercise patience.

The NDC National Chairman further stressed that it is practically impossible to appoint all deserving members at the same time, citing the constitutional restrictions placed on the president’s appointment.

Asiedu Nketia further urged party members to avoid resorting to anger or public criticism and to use internal channels to seek redress for their grievances.

Speaking during his Thank You Tour at Winneba in the Effutu Constituency on Thursday, February 12, Asiedu Nketia, stated, “I am aware that some of you are unhappy because you did not get to be appointed to any position upon our return to power. This is understandable. It is the reason why I am embarking on this ‘Thank You Tour’, to explain issues for your understanding

“The challenge is that, given the number of appointments that the constitution permits President Mahama to make, not all members of the NDC can be taken care of. So be patient. There is no need to be angry with the party.”

“You have elected a good president who is doing a good job. Everyone acknowledges this fact, including some members of the opposition. So, I urge you to be patient with the government. If you have any concerns that have not been addressed yet. There is time for everything. Your concerns will be addressed. All you need to do is to channel them through the right quarters and it will be resolved,” he assured.
