Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, has boldly claimed that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has multiple candidates capable of defeating the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to Edudzi Tameklo, the NDC is well-positioned with credible alternatives ready to contest Dr Bawumia as the party’s depth goes beyond John Dramani Mahama.
He highlighted that Julius Debrah, Ato Forson, Asiedu Nketia, or Prof Jane Naana will defeat Bawumia in 2028.
Speaking on Channel One TV on Sunday, April 26, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo stated, “I am so happy, and I say this with so much pride, that today the NDC can produce all these great men who are fit to lead this Republic. Nothing excites me more than hearing the names you have mentioned”.
He further argued that the emergence of multiple potential contenders reflects strength, not division, within the NDC ahead of the contest.
“All the individuals you’ve named, any one of them can beat Dr Bawumia,” he added.
Also, Alamzy Billa Nikyema, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga, has claimed the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) and it Presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia cannot even win an SRC election.
According to Alamzy Billa Nikyema, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the current NPP lack the political strength needed to win public support, doubting the party’s ability to regain political power in the future.
The NDC MP stressed that NPP members still confidently speak about winning the 2028 general elections when the party is struggling to maintain credibility among Ghanaians.
Alamzy Billa Nikyema stressed that the NPP failed Ghanaians in government, which left public dissatisfaction with the party, adding that the NPP will face challenges in convincing voters at the grassroots.
Speaking on the floor of parliament, Alamzy Billa Nikyema stated, “These people failed us with audacity, they failed us with audacity, and the most bizarre part is that any time they are making contributions, they will tell us that when we win power in 2028. Mr Speaker, my question is with which party and with which candidate?
“Mr Speaker, your current party, and your current candidate, you cannot even use the party and your current candidate to win SRC elections,” Mr Nikyema said.
Meanwhile, Sammi Awuku, the former Director-General of the National Lottery Authority and Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, has revealed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) plans to win the 2028 election.
According to Sammi Awuku, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will shift strategy to win the 2028 elections.
Sammi Awuku explained that the NPP will shift its strategy to prioritise deeper grassroots mobilisation, more structured communication, and sustained engagement with party members.
He detailed that the party intends to move closer to communities to better understand their challenges, making sure that their political policies and messaging reflect realities on the ground.
Sammi Awuku further revealed that the NPP is reviewing its previous campaign strategies to adopt new methods to enhance voter engagement efficiency.
Speaking on the AM Show on April 22, the former NPP National Organiser explained, “There will be a shift in strategy to win 2028”.
“Dr Bawumia is engaging with people to understand their problems and know how they are doing. The focus is to listen more, engage more, and organise better,” he said.
