8-year-old girl who went missing found dead on a cocoa farm

An 8-year-old girl who went missing for less than 24 hours has been found dead on a cocoa farm.

Reports suggest the lifeless body of Josephine Ayitey was discovered in a cocoa farm near Nkwakaw, a suburb of Sefwi Asawinso, on Monday.

Speaking to OTEC News on Tuesday, Dr Daud Hamidu, a family member and Chief Executive Officer of Daud Herbal Centre, disclosed that the deceased went missing from her home on Sunday afternoon while playing with her friend.

He stated, “A search for her proved unsuccessful until her body was found dumped in the cocoa farm the following day”.

Dr Daud Hamidu revealed that a woman returning from her farm reported seeing the lifeless body of a young girl.

“We rushed to the scene only to discover it was our daughter’s body,” he recounted. “We immediately informed the police, who later retrieved the body for investigation.”

He further called for a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to book.

Meanwhile, residents of Sefwi Asawinso in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality have been in shock following the death of an 8-year-old girl who went missing for less than 24 hours.

Deborah Dede Ama was tragically found dead in Tinkong, Eastern Region, days after she was reported missing.

Her disappearance sparked concern across the community, which led to a search with community members and local authorities joining efforts to locate her.

According to reports, Deborah Dede Ama’s lifeless body was found under circumstances that are still being investigated.

Reports suggest the lifeless body of Deborah Ama Dede was discovered on Tuesday in a stream near their house.

According to Kofi Sammy, a family member, the body was found naked and already decomposing, with marks suggesting possible foul play.

Also, residents suspect the teenager may have been sexually assaulted before being killed by unknown attackers.

Meanwhile, the Police at Adawso have retrieved the body from the scene and conveyed it to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy as investigations commence.

In other news, the Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with the disappearance of a couple in Accra.

The couple has been identified as Dr Jesse Amuah and his wife, Elizabeth Esi Amuah, as investigations intensify to locate the missing couple.

According to the Police, they On 22nd April, 2026, the Police received a complaint that the couple had not been seen or heard from since 23rd March, 2026.

The Ghana Police Service, in a post shared on X, wrote, “POLICE ARREST TWO PEOPLE IN CONNECTION WITH THE DISAPPEARANCE OF A COUPLE IN ACCRA.

The Missing Persons Unit of the Ghana Police Service has arrested two people in connection with the reported missing couple, Dr Jesse Amuah and Mrs Elizabeth Esi Amuah.

On 22nd April, 2026 Police received a complaint that the couple had not been seen or heard from since 23rd March, 2026. The complainant further stated that the couple’s house was locked, their Nissan Sunny vehicle with registration number GX 159-X was not parked in the house, and all attempts to reach them had proved unsuccessful.

A team comprising officers from the Missing Persons Unit, Anti-Armed Robbery Unit and the Crime Scene Management Team immediately took over the investigation into the case.

The team has visited the couple’s residence and also followed various leads, resulting in the arrest of the two suspects (names withheld for investigative purposes).

The suspects are assisting the ongoing investigation as intensive efforts continue to locate the missing couple.

We wish to once again urge any member of the public who has credible information on the whereabouts of the couple (photograph attached) to report to the nearest police station for immediate action”.
