Dr Ekua Amoakoh, the Deputy Spokesperson for the Mahamudu Bawumia, has mocked the John Mahama-led government over the ongoing power outages commonly known as dumsor.
According to Ekua Amoakoh, dumsor is running in shifts across the country rather than the proposed 24-hour economy.
Speaking on The AM Show on April 29, Dr Amoakoh stated, “We haven’t seen anything about the Green Transition”.
“I don’t know if it was just wordplay to appeal to the younger generation who are more interested in renewables,” she added.
“At this point, it looks like dumsor is the only thing running a shift—not the 24-hour economy,” she said, referencing recurring power outages affecting households and businesses.
“From what I found, he was already due to go on retirement next month,” she said, adding that such actions risk creating the impression that “heads are rolling” when the individual was already preparing to exit office.
“Do you really think people would intentionally sabotage power so they go home and sit in darkness? It doesn’t make sense,” she argued.
In related news, Nana Akomea, a member of the New Patriotic Party Flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, has quizzed what would have happened if, under the Akufo-Addo government, power outages ‘dumsor’ were attributed to a python found inhabiting a substation.
According to him, the NDC National Chairman, Asiedu Nketiah, would deal with them.
Nana Akomea, in his submission on Peace FM on April 28, 2026, laughed off reports suggesting that a male and female python found inhabiting a substation at Ahodwo in Kumasi were responsible for recent power outages in the city.
Speaking on Peace FM, Nana Akomea stated, “I saw in one of the newspapers this morning that a python and its wife were found at a substation somewhere in Kumasi, and they were attributing the dumsor in parts of Kumasi to that. It’s ridiculous”.
“Can you imagine if these power supply issues were attributed to pythons during the NPP’s tenure? What Asiedu Nketiah would have done to us,” he added amid laughter.
Nana Akomea further fires shots at John Jinapor for attributing the erratic power situation to transformer maintenance works across the country, recounting how, in opposition, he rejected those arguments.
Meanwhile, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hameed, former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), has compiled a list of twenty-one excuses the John Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given for the current power outages (dumsor) in the country.
According to Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hameed, anytime one power goes off, they should not bother, as it will definitely be one of the things listed below.
