The Paramount Chief of the Eastern Nzema Traditional Area, in the Western Region, Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III, has expressed concern over celebrations in some quarters within the area following the revocation of the mining license of Adamus Resources Limited.

While some community members and leaders have welcomed the decision with relief, the chief believes such reactions overlook the broader implications for livelihoods and local development. Reflecting on the company’s history in the Nzema area, Awulae Amihere Kpanyinli III noted that Adamus, despite its challenges, has played a significant role in the socio-economic life of the communities.

He disclosed that the presence of the Adamus mining company in the area has brought development as well as created job opportunities for the teeming youth in the area.

“The area has boasted health facilities, classroom blocks, police stations within the entire community,” he stated. He further indicated that several brilliant but needy students have also received scholarships from the Adamus Mining company as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR’s) for the past years.

The traditional leader cautioned agInst what he described as an oversimplification of a complex issue. The chief also urged the traditional leaders to exercise restraint and prioritize long-term community welfare over emotional or politically influenced reactions. He questioned the future of workers and local businesses should the mine cease operations without a viable alternative in place.

While acknowledging concerns and criticisms surrounding the company’s operations, the chief stressed that such matters should be addressed through dialogue rather than celebration of its challenges.

Awulae Kpanyinli III also called on the government to ensure that the voices of affected communities are heard and that workers’ livelihoods are protected in any final decision. He further appealed for Adamus Resources Limited to be given the opportunity to present its side of the issue, with the aim of reaching a resolution that benefits all stakeholders, particularly the youth.
