Dr Adutwum stated, “I have accepted his offer wholeheartedly. He called me and sent me a WhatsApp message. If he says I should help him with my knowledge in education, why not? I have accepted the appointment 100 per cent.”

“I want to do anything for this country to prosper, and I know this country will prosper through Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,” Dr Yaw Adutwum added.

Dr Adutwum further highlighted that Dr Bawumia is open to new ideas and is focused on finding answers to change the course of Ghana’s history.

He further disclosed that he is “100 per cent in support” of his leadership.

His comments follow, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who has appointed all four of his former rivals in the party’s presidential primaries as co-chairmen of newly established NPP policy committees.

According to reports, the NPP policy committees will work to establish a data-driven policy committee framework within the party.

The NPP Policy Committee will be chaired by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who seeks to generate credible, evidence-based alternative policy recommendations across critical sectors of Ghana’s economy and governance.

“Dr Bawumia appoints all four former presidential aspirants who contested against him as co-chairs of @NPP_GH Policy Committees.

1. Co-Chair of Employment and Jobs Policy Committee — Hon. Kennedy Agyapong.

2. Co-Chair of Defence and Interior Policy Committee — Hon. Dr Bryan Acheampong.

3. Co-Chair of Education Policy Committee — Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.

4. Co-Chair of Housing and Urban Development Policy Committee — Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong”

Meanwhile, Dr Jonathan Asante Otchere, a Political analyst, has labelled the NPP’s flagbearer decision to appoint his rivals in the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearership race to co-chair key policy committees as a massive stroke.

The Political analyst highlighted that if Bawumia’s colleagues have accepted these appointments, it is a massive stroke.

He argued that once Bawumia have been able to get them on board, their grassroots support will definitely be on his side.

According to Dr Jonathan Asante Otchere, Dr Bawumia’s decision is good for the optics.

Speaking on Citi FM’s News Digest on Saturday, May 9, Dr Jonathan Asante Otchere stated, “It is quite strategic. If only these colleagues have accepted these appointments, I think it is a massive stroke. Once you have been able to get them on board, their grassroots support will definitely be on his side”.

“It is good for the optics. The optics is that it creates a semblance of unity,” he stated.
