He warned that if Abronye dies, his blood will be on the hands of the judge.

Speaking on Movement TV, Maurice Ampaw stated, “Because he referred to your colleague as a political judge, you have remanded a seriously ill person. My Lord, if Abronye dies, will you be happy? I don’t know you, but as you sit there, are you able to eat? You have a family, and you’re a churchgoer; don’t you get scared about his medical condition?”

“You are punishing the person because of his comments, forgetting that power is transient. The judicial power doesn’t belong to you,” he said.

He added, “I’m addressing every judge in this country. Judicial power, according to Article 125 of the Constitution, doesn’t belong to you but emanates from the people. Justice is the people’s property. You [judges] are just caretakers”.

“Every judge is an ordinary Ghanaian who has had the privilege to attend law school, gone through the bench, and has been given the mandate to become a judge. You can’t lord it over us, you can’t be wicked,” Ampaw stated.

“Abronye’s medical condition has deteriorated, and if he dies, the judge will never have peace. His blood will be on your hands. Has he committed murder?”

He revealed, “The painful thing is that this same judge has even refused to draft a court order, so at least Abronye can go to the High Court for a bail application,” he revealed.

“Every suspect and accused person has the right to bail,” he said.

Also, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has raised fresh concerns about Abronye DC’s health and conditions in detention.

According to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Abronye’s wife visited him on Saturday, revealing that his health is deteriorating significantly.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Midday News on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah stated, “They are not allowing the lawyers access to see him since Wednesday. When you go to the BNI, they say it is a police case. When you go to the police, they send you back. It has been back and forth”.

“Her feedback to us is that his health is deteriorating significantly. He was already unwell and had recently travelled out of the country for treatment. His condition has worsened, and he is in a dire situation,” Oppong Nkrumah alleged.

“A simple refusal of a bail application should not take seven days for the order to be drafted. It was only in the last hour after my first interview that my lawyers informed me that the court registrars had finally furnished us with a copy of the order,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Accra Circuit Court has given its reasoning behind the denial of the Bono Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, commonly known as Abronye DC.

Reports suggest Abronye appeared before Judge Joseph Yennuban Kunsong on May 13, where he pleaded not guilty to charges.

Abronye’s lawyer, Daniel Martey Addo and Eugene Ansah pleaded with the court to grant their client bail, citing earlier cases were he was granted bail.

However, the state prosecutors led by DSP Emmanuel Nyamekye and ACP Alex Odonkor opposed the application.

They argued that the accused allegedly committed the current offence while already on bail in a separate case.

Judge Kunsong stated: “The court is of the view that when granted bail, the accused will commit further offences. This court specifically relies on Section 96(5)(c) and (d) of Act 30 of 1960.”

The court refused the bail application and ordered that Abronye DC be remanded into the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) until his next court appearance on May 27, 2026.

The Judge further directed prosecutors to complete their investigations and file all disclosures within 14 days.
