According to Linda Ocloo, she did a lot of demolition at the Ramsar site, which led to a lot of people hating him.

Speaking on Asaase Radio, Linda Ocloo stated, “I have tackled flooding within the Greater Accra Region. I tackled this way back before we started experiencing this flooding in Greater Accra.

I have also tackled issues about flooding, knowing very well that some of the buildings at Ramsar sites will be affected when it rains. I went on, and  I did a lot of demolition, and you could see I have a lot of people who hate me because of this demolition exercise”.

Netizen reacting to the Minister’s shocking claims stated, “You done nothing to be applauded for, Hon. What you have done hasn’t significantly tackled Accra’s flooding issue; there is wayyy more to do. 2/10!!!!”.

A netizen added, “The Ga leaders in the traditional council too why are they selling lands unnecessarily. We need to put greed on hold. It rains heavily in the eastern region; it’s the same in the west, Volta, etc., but you don’t see buildings collapsing and going down anyhow. Leadership of GR is really poor”.

One X user added, “This woman deserved to be SACKED… tackled what and how.. smiling and walking in flood waters like a comic character is called tackling.. what a joke.. those who organised that awards should be blamed”.

A netizen noted, “The most dangerous politician is the one who stands in front of cameras after a disaster and tells you the disaster has been handled. That statement does not just insult the dead. It guarantees the next ones”.

“I am sure this is scripted because this woman is doing everything to get Ghanaians angry. Because why will she be saying things we know is still affecting us”, a netizen added.

Meanwhile, Annan Perry, a personal assistant to the CEO of Goldbod, Sammy Gyamfi, has called for demolishing several longstanding Accra neighbourhoods to address the flooding situation in Ghana’s capital.

In his post on X, Annan Perry demanded that structures in Alajo, Nima, Christian Village, Tudu, Accra Newtown, Kaneshie First Light, and Mallam Junction need to be demolished.

Annan Perry, in his post, wrote, “Alajo must go down

Nima must go down

Christian village must go down

Tudu must go down

Accra Newtown must go down

Kaneshie’s first light must go down

Mallam junction must go down

Add any area you think must be collapsed to help fix the flooding issue”.

Also, Julius Kwame Anthony, a Spokesperson for the Interior Ministry, has said the whole of Accra needs replanning to end the floods.

According to Julius Kwame Anthony, a few must be offended for the safety of all.

In a news card shared by GHOne TV, Julius Kwame Anthony was quoted as saying, “The whole of Accra needs replanning to end the floods. Sacrifices have to be made; whole streets of buildings must go. A few must be offended for the safety of all”.
