Man jailed for 5 years for stabbing his sister in the eyes

A man has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for stabbing his sister in both eyes during a heated confrontation.

Reports suggest the heated confrontation happened at Sefwi Abrokofe in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region on January 17, 2026.

The man has been identified as a 55-year-old William Gyamfi, popularly known as Kwasi Manso.

He was convicted by the Sefwi Bodi Circuit Court for attacking his 50-year-old sister, Akua Agyeiwaa.

In court, evidence presented detailed that the dispute escalated into violence when Gyamfi allegedly stabbed his sister in both eyes, leaving her with life-changing injuries.

The  55-year-old  man was subsequently arrested and arraigned before the Sefwi Bodi District Court.

Following several court proceedings, James Mensah Donkor, the presiding judge, found the accused, Kwasi Manso, guilty and was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment with hard labour.

The convict, William Gyamfi, also known as Kwasi Manso, was found guilty after evidence showed he inflicted severe injuries on his 50-year-old sister, Akua Agyeiwaa, including stabbing her in the eye during the 17th January 2026 incident”.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the post stated, “5 years for stabbing someone in the eye. Are we serious?”.

One X user added, “We only get a one-sided report in issues like this, but what kind of anger or hate makes a person do this his sibling?

I don’t have the wisdom and experience of a judge, but 5 years is a little too short IMO”.

One X user also questioned the five-year sentencing, saying, “Five years for stabbing someone in the eye?? Eiii”.

In other news, two armed robbers, identified as Rashid Adams and Godfred Ampadu, have been sentenced to 55 years for robbery by the Bekwai Circuit Court.

The two convicts were sentenced in connection with a robbery incident at Asonkore in Obuasi.

Reports suggest they both pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.

Rashid Adams was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment, while Godfred Ampadu received 25 years’ imprisonment.

The news shared by UTV Ghana read, “The Bekwai Circuit Court has sentenced two suspects, Rashid Adams and Godfred Ampadu, in connection with a robbery incident at Asonkore in Obuasi.

The two pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery and were subsequently convicted on their own pleas.

Rashid Adams was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment, while Godfred Ampadu received 25 years’ imprisonment. The sentences are to run concurrently.

A third suspect, Dominic Naazie, alleged to have aided the crime, pleaded not guilty and has been remanded into custody to reappear before the court on 24th April 2026”.
