A man impersonating the Executive Secretary to the President, John Dramani Mahama, Dr Callistus Mahama, has been arrested.

Reports suggest the man was impersonating Dr Callistus Mahama by allegedly promising to secure appointments in exchange for money.

A purported Facebook post of Dr Callistus Mahama announced the development, saying, “For some time now, an individual has been impersonating Dr Callistus Mahama, falsely promising to secure appointments in exchange for payment. Following investigations, he has now been arrested.

This should serve as a reminder to the public: no one is required to pay money to obtain an appointment. Anyone who demands payment while claiming to act on our behalf is a fraudster.

We urge all Ghanaians to remain vigilant, verify any suspicious requests through official channels, and report anyone engaging in such fraudulent activities. Please do not fall victim to these scams.

In related news, the Accra High Court has remanded five suspects into police custody over their alleged role in impersonating President John Dramani Mahama, Lordina Mahama, and others.

Reports suggest the suspects created and circulated high-fidelity AI-generated deepfake content used to impersonate President John Dramani Mahama, First Lady Lordina Mahama, and other public figures to defraud the public on platforms including TikTok, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

The information suggests the five remanded are expected to reappear in court on April 14, 2026.

The accused have been identified as Bernard Mensah alias Charity Quaicoe, Ahmed Mensah, Nana Boafo Freba, Blessed Sam, and Ato Mensah Ebenezer.

The accused include Bernard Mensah alias Charity Quaicoe, Ahmed Mensah, Nana Boafo Freba, Blessed Sam, and Ato Mensah Ebenezer. Authorities say the scheme was used to deceive unsuspecting victims online.
