A video has surfaced online of a woman shockingly beating a young girl with a piece of firewood.
According to reports, the shocking incident occurred in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.
The viral video shared by CDR Africa on July 6, 2026, captured the woman repeatedly hitting the young girl, believed to be her house help, with a piece of firewood.
The young girl, in the video, appeared to be scared and tried to protect herself from the hits.
It has been alleged that the incident stems from the delay in completing a household chore.
The video was shared with the caption, “ Outrage in Ashiaman as woman beats maid with firewood over delayed groundnuts.
The woman is accused of assaulting the young girl after she reportedly failed to fry groundnuts within the expected time”.
Meanwhile, it is unclear if the incident has been reported to the police or if any action has been taken against the woman.
Some netizens reacting to the viral video stated, “Ghana police service, we trust you will deal with this one out soon”.
A netizen added, “Oh, but the people around too were they blind to the scene? At least they could have rescued the lady. This is domestic violence and should be treated as such”.
One X user added, “This is pure wickedness and absolutely unacceptable! There is no justification whatsoever for inflicting this level of physical violence on another human being, let alone a young maid over something as trivial as delayed groundnuts. The Ghana Police Service in Ashaiman must move swiftly to arrest this woman and prosecute her to the full extent of the law. We need to make an example out of people who abuse domestic workers”.
