In a video shared on X, Alex, who contested in the NPP elections held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, and Sunday, July 12, 2026, expressed his displeasure that many of the 1, 600 voters demanded money before casting their ballots.

The NPP aspirant in the viral footage explained that he is neither a Member of Parliament nor a party organiser with access to large funds to sponsor voters.

Alex described the situation as demoralising and a major challenge for aspirants without financial backing.

He also highlighted the burden of financial demands that make the political process exhausting and discouraging.

The NPP aspirant in the video stated, “I am tired, my brother. About the 1,600 people going to vote for you, everybody needs money from you before going to vote. And when you ask them, all of them say they voted for you.

The work is not easy; that is why I have come to sit here. I am even sad because I am not an MP or organiser”.

In related news, Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced that the party will be marching to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on Monday, July 13, over the arrest of Dennis Miracles Aboagye.

According to Nana Boakye, the NPP will March to the EOCO to demand answers over the arrest of Dennis Miracles Aboagye.

Nana Boakye highlighted that the circumstances surrounding Miracles’ arrest are an attempt to intimidate members of the opposition.

He alleged that Miracles was arrested without any prior invitation or notice from EOCO of any alleged wrongdoing.

Nana Boakye also fumed over the increasing use of state institutions to harass political opponents, highlighting that the practice undermines Ghana’s democratic principles.

“Miracles has not received any invitation from EOCO. He has not been informed of any wrongdoing. He has not been told that he is under any form of investigation,” Nana Boakye stated.

His comment comes on the heels of the former Director of Communications and spokesperson for the 2024 Bawumia campaign team, Dennis Miracle Aboagye arrest by EOCO.

Reports suggest the aspiring Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) was arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in the early hours of Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Sources told GHnow.com that Miracle Aboagye was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport as part of investigations by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), which is reportedly probing allegations that he misappropriated millions of cedis during his tenure as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee (IMCC).

NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, in a Facebook post, confirmed the arrest by EOCO officers with the assistance of Immigration officials at the Accra International Airport.

He revealed that Miracles’ lawyers have since been denied access to him; his whereabouts remain unknown, and no charges have been filed against him.
