In a statement issued following the reading of the late Apostle Prof. Emeritus Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s Will, the Family issued the following clarification, which reads, “1. The Family has announced no official date for the burial and final funeral rites. The Family will communicate the approved funeral date and programme only after the necessary consultations have been concluded.

2. The Family has neither authorised nor issued any invitation cards, posters, flyers, social media publications, or other notices relating to the final burial and funeral arrangements, including those bearing the dates of 30th July, 31st July, and 8th August 2026.

3. The Family is currently undertaking the necessary consultations to ensure that all funeral arrangements are conducted in accordance with the wishes of the deceased, the Family’s customs, and the applicable customary and administrative protocols. An official announcement on the funeral programme will be made in due course.

The Family respectfully appeals to the media and the general public to rely solely on official communications issued by the authorised representatives of the Family and to refrain from circulating or acting upon unverified information”.

Meanwhile, the final burial rites of late Apostle Prof. Emeritus Ing. Kwadwo Safo have been hit with yet another controversy over allegations that the former member of parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Adwoa Safo, is holding her father’s body as ransom.

It has been alleged that Sarah Adwoa Safo, daughter of the late Apostle, is demanding GH₵3.7 million as an initial contribution towards preparations for the funeral.

The statement alleges that Adwoa Safo contacted the family’s lawyer on 4 June 2026 to resolve issues surrounding the funeral arrangements through dialogue.

However, it further claims that after a meeting was scheduled, Adwoa Safo failed to attend and later announced that the funeral would take place on 30 and 31 July 2026 without final approval.

It has been alleged that Adwoa Safo later sent another letter through her lawyers dated 21 July 2026, expressing a desire to cooperate with the family but requested the GH₵3.7 million payment.

In a Facebook post shared by Magraheb TV with the said statement read, “Another EXPLOSIVE Kantanka News:

The main Family of Kantanka (who are authorised by Kantanka’s own Will to make all his funeral arrangements) says Apostle Kantanka’s Funeral will NOT be happening on 30th July, as it’s been circulating online by Hon. Adwoa Safo and her people

The reasons for this decision: Hon. Adwoa Safo is allegedly holding her father’s body for ransom; she wants 3.7 million cedis before she will give the body to the family (including Akofena) for the funeral arrangements as stipulated in Kantanka’s own Will.

FYI, Kantanka’s Will (his Final Wishes are NOT being respected at all, and the family wants to make sure the right thing is done”.
