The Intercity STC Coaches Ltd has refuted reports suggesting that its passengers died in Monday’s accident involving one of its buses travelling from Accra to Kumasi.
According to Intercity STC Coaches Ltd, everyone on board survived.
They debunked claims being circulated following an interview attributed to the Bus driver, suggesting that only 10 passengers survived the crash.
STC disclosed that passengers who sustained injuries received the necessary medical attention and were discharged on Monday.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday by Intercity STC Coaches Ltd read, “NO ONE DIED IN THE ACCRA–KUMASI–ACCRA BUS ACCIDENT.
Intercity STC Coaches Limited wishes to inform the general public, our valued passengers, stakeholders, and the media regarding an accident involving one of our buses travelling from Accra to Kumasi on Monday, 3rd August 2026.
Following the incident, some inaccurate information was circulated through an interview attributed to the driver, suggesting that only ten (10) passengers survived the accident. Intercity STC wishes to state categorically that this information is false and does not reflect the actual situation.
“Intercity STC wishes to state categorically that this information is false and does not reflect the actual situation,” the company said.
It added that “all passengers and crew members on board survived the accident.”
The development follows, the driver of the STC bus involved in the multi-vehicle collision at the Birimso Bridge on the Accra-Kumasi Highway has spoken about the tragic incident.
According to the STC driver, the bus was carrying 31 passengers at the time of the crash.
He disclosed that about 10 passengers managed to escape, while the rest were trapped and reportedly burnt to death.
Speaking in a viral video, the STC driver with blood stains on his dress and holding a side of his head stated, “We were about 31 people on the bus. The number of people we were able to get out was about 10, and the rest got burnt”.
Meanwhile, reports suggest three people have been confirmed dead following a multi-vehicle collision involving a State Transport Company (STC) bus, a fuel tanker, a Mitsubishi pick-up and a Kia Sorento at Etukrom, near Bonsu Junction in the Eastern Region.
Reports suggest the crash occurred on Monday, August 3, leaving the STC bus, the fuel tanker and the Mitsubishi pick-up completely burnt, while the Kia Sorento was extensively damaged.
The vehicles involved in the crash were: “A fuel tanker; A Mitsubishi pick-up with registration number GE 8602-17; A Kia Sorento with registration number GT 8601-14; and an STC bus with registration number GS 7050-22”.
