“THE VICE CHAIR RACE IS ABOUT TO GET MORE INTERESTING!

Nana Akomea is set to officially announce his bid for NPP National Vice Chairman within the week,” he said.

In related news, Kofi Ofusu Nkansah, the former Chief Executive Officer for NEIP, has backed Nana Akomea’s decision to join the race for Vice Chairman in the New Patriotic Party.

According to him, the decision will improve the quality of vice chairmen the party will have for the next four years.

His social media post read, “Nana Akomeah enters NPP Vice Chairmanship race. His entry automatically improves the quality of the 3 Vice Chairs we will have because he will surely get a slot.

Good luck Director”.

Meanwhile, the NPP has opened nominations on August 17, 2026, to allow for persons interested in contesting for national positions to pick forms.

The party is expected to elect their national executives on October 3, 2026, for preparation ahead of the 2028 elections.

In other news, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said the party’s primary objective is to regain political power in the 2028 elections.

On Sunday, August 16, addressing newly elected Greater Accra Regional executives of the NPP following the party’s regional executive elections, Dr Bawumia made this known.

According to Dr Bawumia, the August 15 regional elections should not be viewed as the end of the party’s internal activities but rather as part of a broader process aimed at creating a stronger and more effective political organisation capable of winning back power in the 2028 election.

He also reminded the executives that their election should be viewed as a responsibility rather than merely a political achievement.

Dr Bawumia stated, “The goal for all of us is to win the 2028 election. This is just a stepping stone towards winning 2028. As a party, we have been engaged in an exercise of reorganisation. We have had our polling station elections, our electoral area elections, we have had our constituency elections, and we have now had our regional elections.

“We will culminate that process on October 10 with the national elections and therefore, at the end of that, the party will be in a good position to have that vehicle that drives us to victory in 2028. So there is a lot of work ahead of us.”

Also, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, the Greater Accra regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has vowed not to rest until Dr Mahamudu Bawumia becomes president of Ghana.

The newly elected NPP Accra regional chairman, in a post on social media, thanked delegates and party folks who voted for him.

He further called on all party folks to come on board to help deliver power to the NPP in 2028.

Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, in a post, stated, “I thank all constituency executives for their support and participation in yesterday’s election.

The 488–173 result represents a clear and emphatic endorsement; I am deeply grateful.

Thank you for the trust, encouragement and commitment throughout this journey. We shall not rest until we make Dr Mahamudu Bawumia President of the Republic of Ghana.

Thank you, Greater Accra. The Restoration Begins!”
