Fadi Daboussi, a staunch New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, has said NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and aspiring National Chairman, Boakye-Agyarko, are the only capable figures to help the party overcome its challenges.
According to Fadi Daboussi, if the NPP do not engage Dr Bawumia and Boakye-Agyarko, the party is headed into the Odaw gutter.
He further criticised some NPP members over their recent comments and their positions on illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
In a self-recorded video shared on TikTok, Fadi Daboussi stated, “Who engaged in galamsey more than the former NPP administration under Samuel Abu Jinapor?”
“Galamsey was at its peak under the former government. At a point, former COCOBOD CEO Joseph Aidoo was getting threats for opposing the cutting of cocoa trees for galamsey. All these happened under the NPP, but now Abena has the effrontery to go on an anti-galamsey demo. It is annoying,” he said.
He added, “If you don’t engage Bawumia and Boakye-Agyarko, the party is headed into the Odaw gutter”.
In other news, Boakye Agyarko, the former Energy Minister and aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a bold pledge to supporters of the party after a group of NPP constituency chairpersons picked, paid for and presented nomination forms to him to contest the party’s National Chairperson position.
According to Boakye Agyarko, under his leadership, the NPP will rise again and return to power in the 2028 general elections under his leadership.
Addressing the media after receiving the forms, Mr Agyarko stated, “I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Constituency Chairmen who purchased and picked this form for me and those who accompanied them. I’m truly humbled by this gesture. Chairmen, I’m truly grateful”.
“To the rest of the NPP fraternity, let me assure you that this party shall rise again. This party may have gone down, but we’re not out. With dedication and commitment…we will rise again,” he added.
“My task as a chairman is to lead in the rebuilding and rebranding of the party into a solid electoral machine upon which our flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will stand firmly and win the 2028 election with ease,” he said.
Also, a new poll conducted ahead of the 2028 general elections has revealed that the former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, currently leads all potential National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidates.
The survey was conducted by Africa Policy Lens from July 27 to August 7, 2026, and interviewed 16,963 voters across all 276 constituencies, testing Dr Bawumia in seven assumed one-on-one contests.
The Africa Policy Lens disclosed that across all the matchups, Dr Bawumia secured between 45.7 per cent and 49.9 per cent of national voter support.
Dr Bawumia led Johnson Asiedu Nketia, 45.8 per cent to 42.4 per cent; Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, 45.7 per cent to 42.8 per cent; and Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, 45.9 per cent to 41.5 per cent.
They further disclosed that the NPP flagbearer margins were wider against Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, whom he led 47.4 per cent to 40.2 per cent, and Dr Julius Debrah, 48.4 per cent to 37.9 per cent.
Also, Dr Bawumia’s largest leads were recorded against Hon. Eric Opoku, 49.8 per cent to 33.9 per cent, and Prof. Joshua Alabi, 49.9 per cent to 34.4 per cent.
