Shatta Wale, a Ghanaian dancehall artiste, has alleged that the government owes him about GH¢5 million.
According to Shatta Wale, the GH¢5 million owed him by the government was for promotional activities and advertisements he undertook in support of the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Shatta Wale revealed he was yet to receive any payment despite having completed the work.
Speaking in an interview with GHOne TV, Shatta Wale said, “ I am happy with President Mahama his idology.
When asked by Serwaa Amihere about his best performing minister or appointee, Shatta Wale stated, “So, I don’t have any; I can give you examples”.
He further stated, “With the World Cup that we did, you know we had to promote whatever…We were supposed to be paid. Up till now, I have not been paid. For the postings and ads, a lot. I think now they owe me about GH₵5 million,” he said.
Shatta Wale further expressed frustration over his attempts to obtain payment.
According to him, when he calls ministers for his payment, they refuse to answer his calls.
“Oh, not a penny. You call the minister; he will not pick up. The deputy minister of finance will also not pick up. Disrespect, total disrespect in this country,” he fumed.
It will be recalled that in June 2026, the government announced the release of GH¢76 million to support the Black Stars’ World Cup campaign.
Shatta Wale also publicly supported the national team’s campaign.
During a fundraising initiative in March, ShattaWale and his Hotwav team reportedly contributed US$100,000 towards the Black Stars’ World Cup efforts.
His contribution was, however, separated from the payment he says is owed for his promotional work.
In other related Black Stars news, Kurt Okraku, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, has revealed that there is an imminent appointment of a new head coach for the Black Stars.
According to Kurt Okraku, the new Black Stars coach is 99% in place, adding that the coach is already working.
The GFA president disclosed that they are at the final stage, where they have to sign papers and formalise the relationship.
Speaking to 3Sports, Kurt Okraku stated, “Ghana will have a coach before we regroup”.
“The coach who will lead the Black Stars is 99% in place. The coach who will lead the Black Stars is already working.
“We are just at that last line where we have to sign papers and formalise the relationship. We have machinery in place; we are working,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars will return to competitive action in September when they begin their qualification campaign for the 2027 AFCON.
They have been drawn in Group C alongside Ivory Coast, The Gambia and Somalia for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers.
