A trained teacher turned Okada rider identified as Francis Logah has revealed that after quitting teaching, he has been able to build a two-bedroom house within a year.

According to the teacher-turned-Okada rider, after teaching for six years in the classroom, he was not even able to buy a single block to start building.

He disclosed that he walked away from teaching in 2022 because he felt being a teacher was not financially rewarding.

Francis Logah revealed that within a year of leaving the teaching profession to become a delivery rider, he now lives with his wife and children in a two-bedroom house he built.

Speaking on Neat FM on September 9, 2026, Francis Logah stated, “When I stopped, God has been so good to me. My mother had a piece of land around Kasoa, but after teaching for six years, I couldn’t afford to buy even a single block to start building.

But between 2022, when I stopped, and the end of 2023, I had built a two-bedroom house, and I am now living there with my wife and children. I built it within a period of one year”.

He further compared his experience as an Okada rider to his time as a trained teacher in Ghana.

He argued that he is comfortable with his decision to leave teaching because he struggled financially while in the profession.

He stated, “Teachers borrow to survive; when the month ends, we go and pay. We buy foodstuff on credit. I won’t hide it”.

“I walked out in 2022. No letter, no apology to anybody. At daybreak, I didn’t go to school. When the headmistress called me, I told her, ‘I am not coming again,’”

“I worked, and there were only a few days left for the validation. I told the headmistress that I didn’t need the money. If I needed it, I would have stayed. I told her to make sure no money was paid into my account,” he added.

In other news, A private school Teacher has cried out about the difficulties she faces working at a school in Accra.

According to the Teacher, she teaches pupils from class 1 to Junior High School Three (JHS3) for a monthly salary of GH¢750.

She disclosed that her GH¢750 salary is not enough to meet her basic needs, especially as she has to pay for transport and rent as she lives alone in Accra.

Speaking on Starr FM, the Ghanaian Teacher stated, “I’m a teacher, and at the same time, I’m also going to school, and talking about our salary, it’s really bad. I’m actually a Ghanaian Language teacher. I’m currently teaching kids where I’m working, and I’m teaching from Class 1 to Form 3”.

“Only me, and then at the end of the month, I’m only given GH¢750. As I’m talking to you right now, the Form 3 students who completed did so well this year, and at least I’m hoping that maybe when school resumes, they’ll do something about my salary because it’s really bad,” she continued.

The private school teacher added, “I have to join a car every morning to get to school, and I’m renting. My parents are not here. I’m alone here in Accra and surviving, you know, if all these things are going on…”.

“With ladies too, we find other means because now, before you ask someone for money, the person wants to do something with you before they give you,” she stated.

“What helps sometimes is that at the end of the week, we are given some study fees like GH¢100,” she added.
