Ghana’s seat of government, the Jubilee House, has been rocked following explosive allegations made by former National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential aspirant Stephen Atubiga.
Stephen Atubiga, now the founder and leader of the National Liberation Congress (NLC), has alleged that 158 NDC footsoldiers posted at the Presidency are “hungry and angry” over what he describes as poor working conditions and alleged mistreatment.
According to Stephen Atubiga, the 158 NDC footsoldiers are being subjected to what he described as inhumane treatment, with concerns also raised over their remuneration and welfare.
He alleged that some of the NDC footsoldiers working at Jubilee House receive as little as GH¢1,000.
Stephen Atubiga also accused Colonel Abdulie and his deputy, Lieutenant Adonteng, who are responsible for security at the Presidency, of arbitrarily dismissing some workers and confiscating their identification cards.
In a Facebook post on September 9, 2026, Stephen Atubiga stated, “*NOTICE OF CAUTION TO COL. ABDULIE AND DEPUTY LT. ADONTENG – HEAD OF SECURITY AT THE PRESIDENCY*
Col. Abdulie and your Deputy, Lt. Adonteng, please sit up.
The 158 NDC Footsoldiers and grassroots National Security operatives posted at the Presidency are very hungry and angry. There are serious allegations of inhumane treatment against your office.
1. *Arbitrary Dismissal:* Their biggest cry is that for any small issue, you just take their ID cards and ask them to go home and that you will call them. They complain that even when you meet them in the lobby or corridors returning from the washroom, you just say, “Bring your card and go home.” Some comrades have been home hungry for over 3 months now.
2. *Poor Welfare and Pay:* At the seat of government, where security officers must be well fed and well paid, I am surprised to hear they are only given GH¢1000. Even with the Chief of Staff supporting them with an additional GH¢1200.00, the total take-home of GH¢2200.00 is too small, especially for those with wives and children.
Ask the president for more money for our boys and girls. As we ready to support for your call for more money for our comrades.
GH2200, monthly take-home can’t even take care of a call girl, bottocks food, hotel and goodbye take-home; talking of a husband taking such home how?
3. *Lack of Engagement:* You have not met all of them to listen to their problems or welfare. That is why some are unable to report to work for days due to lack of transport fare.
The allegations of bad treatment of our 150 comrades is unacceptable, if true.
You should support them to get their full pay. Party grassroots footsoldiers cannot work on an empty stomach.
I will keep most of the inhumane allegations internal for now. They also allege that you have not made any provision to get to know them personally or introduce them to leadership at the Presidency. Immediately you see them, it is “Come, what is your name? Who are you? Let me see your card?”
These 158 comrades are grassroots and footsoldiers reaping what they have sown. They have no barracks to go to in opposition but back to the party grounds. I am pleading for dignified treatment for them.
God forbid something goes wrong; I will not be surprised if these comrades jump on you people like how Nanka Bruce was unfortunately manhandled.
My brother Col. Abdulie and your deputy Lt. Adonteng, the 158 National Security NDC footsoldiers and grassroots are all sitting on thorns against you.
