In a post on X, the NDC activist wrote, “This guy sounds very disrespectful and arrogant: “Rawlings no koraa”? Sɛ sen? Chale respect small wai. In NDC we get manners”.

The netizen’s comment follows Steven Nhyira Odarteifio, who quizzed the amount of resources the late Jerry John Rawlings had before contesting an election.

Steven Nhyira Odarteifio, during a studio debate on Ghanaian politics, questioned Rawlings’ humble start before rising to lead the NDC and become president.

According to him, politicians like Jerry John Rawlings and Thomas Sankara had nothing but rose to lead their respective countries.

He argued that politics is not necessarily about money but verve and nerve.

Steven Nhyira Odarteifio made this remark in an interview on Neat FM when he was asked by the host whether he had money; he stated, “I have intellectual resources, I have social capital, I have political capital; that is the most important thing.

Na Rawlings no koraa what money did he have? Thomas Sankara: how much money did he have? Kwame Nkrumah, he died with just a chopbox. So it is not money; what we need is verve and nerve and people who can push, and that is what will bring the money.

He further added, “If I had no money, I can’t even go and meet the NDC youth wing in Greater Accra; I can’t travel to the Bono region on Sunday. I can’t go and meet the Winnebba team on Saturday. It requires money and resources, but that is not the defining measure of whether somebody can win.

By the time I am done with my tour of this entire nation, they will all be begging for a new kind of leadership, and I am sure my opponents will also resign before the eventual election on December 12”.

Some Ghanaians reacting to the netizen claims of alleged disrespectful and arrogant comments towards the late Jerry John Rawlings stated, “The way these people are doing politics in Ghana is very distasteful.. I don’t know where they get these people from to just come and spill gibberish and think they can get power..”.

One X user added, “There’s absolutely nothing wrong here with his speech; journalists should sometimes do better with how they ask questions”.

A netizen added. “Funfooling in Ghana is part of politics and you hv a sharp mouth; note that even whn you loose talk we will still hail you till you know that your vote was jst 1 in a whole constituency, Ghanaians hv studied the politics well don’t undermine us”.

“There’s nothing wrong with what he said, “Rawlings no koraa” What he seems to say in this context is asking which money he had when he started his political life, who eventually became the founder of a political party and president. He didn’t complete that statement”, an X user added.

One last X user added, “Those people were smart; they could have made money. They sacrificed their precious time and youth doing what today’s politicians won’t do. Stop talking trash”.
