Nana Agyei Baffour, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, has said the party’s claim that there is a cocaine manufacturing hub in Ghana is not a mere allegation, based on intelligence.
According to Nana Agyei Baffour, Ghana is not only a transit point for cocaine smuggling, but there is some level of manufacturing ongoing in the country.
Speaking in an interview on Citi FM on Tuesday, the NPP MP, when asked whether his party’s claim was “theory or a fact”, stated, “Fact based on intelligence.”
“There’s some degree, some level of manufacturing in here… It’s a fact based on intelligence… Don’t underestimate the New Patriotic Party as a major political party. People give us information,” he added.
The NPP legislator added, “It is on this basis that an enquiry is very necessary, because if it is established, like we have been informed by way of our intelligence, that indeed there is a manufacturing hub in this country, then it’s a very serious matter.
“If it is also established that indeed there is an importation, it is also equally a very serious matter,” he said.
When pushed to disclose the location of the hub, Nana Agyei Baffour disclosed that he couldn’t do so publicly.
The MP also refused to state whether the NPP had informed the nation’s security apparatus about its intelligence.
It will be recalled that Nana Boakye at an NPP press conference on Tuesday, September 22, where he alleged that drug traffickers had established laboratories in Ghana to process narcotics for export.
According to Nana B, the NPP’s intelligence gathered suggests drug traffickers have established clandestine laboratories in Ghana which are used to process narcotics for export.
Speaking at a press conference organised by the opposition NPP on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, Henry Nana Boakye stated, “These drug lords, they have established basic laboratories here for processing of illicit drugs and narcotics under the watch of President Mahama”.
“And it appears that he doesn’t care.”
“That is the reason why volumes of drugs traced to Ghana keep surfacing in the folds of ships and the luggage of passengers in Sydney, Dunkirk and Johannesburg,” he said.
He further alleged that some government officials were facilitating the movement of narcotics out of the country.
Meanwhile, Bernard Mornah, the 2024 presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has called on National Security to arrest aspiring NPP National First Vice Chairman, Henry Nana Boakye, to identify the alleged factories manufacturing cocaine in the country as part of investigations into the matter.
According to Bernard Mornah, the claims by Nana B are serious, adding that he believes Nana B would not have made such claims without evidence to support them.
Speaking on Power FM on September 23, 2026, Bernard Mornah stated, “I believe what Nana B said about having a factory that processes cocaine in Ghana. I believe him, and I believe he is part of it, hence his knowledge of where the factory is.
“If the National Security Coordinator, Abdul Razak Osman, is listening, they should arrest him so he can take them to where the factory is. He should only be made to show them the factory’s location and their activities, and after that, they should free him and protect his identity,” he said.
He warned, “If they don’t arrest Nana B, then it means they are protecting him and establishing the factory, producing and processing cocaine in the country. National Security must act swiftly. If he isn’t part of it, he wouldn’t have made such claims, so they should pick him up for investigations to proceed”.
“If he [Nana B] did not create the factory, he would not have known of its existence,” he added.
