Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah, popularly known as Benghazi, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team member, has said Ghana must petition US President Donald Trump to come and capture President John Mahama.
The NPP communicator argued that Donald Trump must come and capture President Mahama just as he did with Venezuela’s President Maduro.
Speaking on Onua TV, Benjamin Gyewu-Appiah stated, “Venezuela’s President why was he captured?. President Trump says President Maduro, in one year, allowed 2 tonnes of cocaine to pass through Venezuela. As we speak, Maduro is in the US. As for John Mahama, by next week, President Trump must come for him.
So far, 7.3 tonnes have passed through Ghana. Ghana has to petition for US President Donald Trump to come and capture President Mahama and send him away, just as he did to Venezuela’s President Maduro.
Next week we will picket at the US Embassy for them to come and capture him”.
Meanwhile, Henry Nana Boakye, commonly known as Nana B, the National Organiser of the NPP, has alleged that drug lords have established labs in Ghana.
According to Nana B, the NPP’s intelligence gathered suggests drug traffickers have established clandestine laboratories in Ghana which are used to process narcotics for export.
Speaking at a press conference organised by the opposition NPP on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, Henry Nana Boakye stated, “These drug lords, they have established basic laboratories here for processing of illicit drugs and narcotics under the watch of President Mahama”.
“And it appears that he doesn’t care.”
“That is the reason why volumes of drugs traced to Ghana keep surfacing in the folds of ships and the luggage of passengers in Sydney, Dunkirk and Johannesburg,” he said.
He further alleged that some government officials were facilitating the movement of narcotics out of the country.
Nana B also cited the cocaine case involving Nayele Ametefe during the previous Mahama administration.
“Ghanaians have not forgotten the Naa Ayele Ametefe scandal under the first Mahama administration where this drug trafficker was afforded the courtesy of the VVIP wing at the Kotoka International Airport before her arrest at Heathrow with cocaine in her bags,” he said.
“Today, under the second Mahama term, the same pattern has resurfaced. The same process has remained, and it has grown to be much worse,” he said.
“Some within our borders, others involving Ghanaians and Ghana-linked consignments intercepted abroad,” he said.
“This is not an isolated embarrassment; it is a pattern. And patterns demand accountability.”
Also, Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has told President John Dramani Mahama to sack officials over Ghana’s recurrent cocaine busts.
The NPP accused President John Mahama of weak leadership over his handling of recent drug trafficking cases linked to Ghana, demanding the dismissal of officials responsible for alleged failures within the country’s drug interdiction and security chain.
Nana Boakye criticised President Mahama’s decision to convene a meeting at the Jubilee House only to direct security officials to tighten their operations, arguing that the circumstances demanded stronger action, including removing officials responsible for the breaches.
Nana Boakye stated, “They have relaxed on their duties. They must be sacked. Yet the president calls for a meeting. Nothing happens. We voted for leadership, not weak leadership”.
“What His Excellency the President is exhibiting is weak leadership,” he said.
“His Excellency the President spoke tough. He was going to crack the whip today. He cannot crack the whip. He is rather pampering the activities of illicit drugs,” Nana Boakye said.
“Close to about nine officials should have been sacked by now. Yet the President is pampering them,” he said.
