Parliament of Ghana has disclosed that Francis-Xavier Sosu, the Member of Parliament for Madina, is in a stable condition after falling ill while delivering a presentation at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
According to Parliament, the MP received immediate assistance at the event before being transferred to a medical facility for further medical attention.
In a statement on social media on September 24, 2026, Parliament stated, “UPDATE ON THE HEALTH OF HON. DR. FRANCIS-XAVIER SOSU, MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR MADINA CONSTITUENCY.
Parliament has noted with concern a video circulating on social media showing Hon. Dr Francis-Xavier Sosu, Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency, taking ill while delivering a presentation at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) today.
The Honourable Member received immediate assistance at the event and was transferred to a medical facility, where he is receiving medical attention.
Parliament is pleased to confirm that Hon. Sosu is in stable condition and is under the care of his medical team.
Parliament extends its appreciation to the management and staff of GIMPA, the attending medical personnel, and all who responded promptly. We also thank the public for the prayers and messages of goodwill received.
Parliament respectfully urges the public and the media to:
1. Desist from sharing the video, out of respect for the Honourable Member and his family;
2. Refrain from speculation on the cause of the incident or his condition; and
3. Respect the privacy of the family during this period.
Further updates will be communicated through official channels of Parliament as appropriate”.
The development follows that of Francis-Xavier Sosu, who collapsed while delivering a speech at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
He was speaking about his personal experiences, leadership, and commitment to public service when he suddenly appeared to lose consciousness on stage.
“I respectfully submit that if you want to be a good leader, let service be your hallmark,” he said moments before he paused and appeared to collapse.
Some person at the event speedily rushed to the stage to assist with the two people holding on to the legislator to prevent him from falling. The MP briefly appeared to regain consciousness and seemed poised to continue his speech.
However, he soon began to slump again.
Francis-Xavier Sosu was subsequently carried off the stage as some people could be heard expressing shock over the incident.
Meanwhile, the circumstances surrounding the incident and Francis-Xavier Sosu’s current condition were not immediately clear.
